Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Could someone please ask the marmots do do a “good weather dance”? I feel really bad for everyone who is stuck in Denver. We are heading to Fla (had hoped to see the shuttle after its landing at Canaveral, but it’s been waived off due to weather) and our cruise weather looks fit for a duck! Please someone-- bring on the sunshine!

Very pretty, please:).

Marmots ahoy!

And a big holiday aloha to all.

Hey-- those buggers are really good!! I heard the shuttle is landing at Canaveral!! Hope it will still be in a viewing area tomorrow.

LOL Alu. Bellissimo.

One of my little Bedlingtons is in the doggy hospital. He got into my son’s prescription Motrin (from the damn wisdom teeth!) and apparently ibuprofen is quite toxic to dogs. I’m so worried about him. He’s the sweetest little guy - and only two years old. Needless to say, I’m trying hard to forgive my careless son. Not to mention, I really didn’t want a $1000 vet bill at Christmas time.

Pass the cheese… (to go with the whining)

:(

oh weenie - I’m so sorry to hear this :frowning: , Christmas prayers for your little doggy. We’ll get the Marmots to play soft tamborines and sing…let us know how he does…

GET WELL SOON, WEENIE’S POOCH!!!

Poor little thing! Do you know how many he ate? I hope it ends up being nothing serious.

p.s. which son’s wisdom tooth? #1 or #2? The other day, DD comes to me and says “look, my wisdom teeth are coming in!” We already knew all 4 are impacted. I’m just waiting for her cheeks to start puffing out…

To add to the holiday accident report:

DS#2 was with friends in the park, after dark, went down a slippery grassy hill, hit his hand on a fence and broke his pinkie finger (metacarpal). He didn’t bother us with it last night but this morning it was so swollen we said you’re going for x-rays and indeed it was broken. Poor guy.

The only amusing piece is his roommate is just getting over a broken metatarsal (pinkie toe) and they had a good laugh over that. He made a sign for the dorm room door–something about only cripples from (city) may enter.

And fortunately it’s not his writing hand!

DH asked if I wanted some coffee. My nerves were jangled enough, thank you, so I added some Kahlua to counteract the caffeine. Very soothing. :)

Thanks for the well wishes.

We’re not sure how much he ate - less than a fatal dose (which was frighteningly small for his weight - like one whole pill) it appeared. I pieced them together and we figured out how many son (#1 - the messy one!) had taken. I have not heard from the vet today yet, but I’ll bet he won’t be home until today - but I’m prepared to drop EVERYTHING and go get him.

I’m just worried sick about him. (And at $400/day I’m a little worried about that too.) He is the cutest thing.

My other dog has decided it’s not as much fun being an “only child” as she thought it was going to be…

Oh mommusic! Ouch!

I love the way he didn’t mention it until the morning! Kids.

weenie – I hope your little pooch is okay!

Pooch is not doing very well…

We’re praying and keeping fingers crossed.

weenie~

Awwwwwwww, honey, {{{{{{{major hugs}}}}}}}. I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet little doggie. Sending thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. I know how attached we get to our animal family members…

I was just reading on another thread how one of dig’s doggies did something similar just yesterday. I always kept the meds WAAAAAAAAAY high when my kiddos were young, but it would have never occurred to me to have to watch out for pets so closely!

Hope today brings your family and you good news. ~berurah

weenie and mommusic-
My thoughts are with you both for speedy recoveries for doggie and son. I have a friend with the smartest bedlington I have ever seen. The dog understands English! You can tell her anything, change the inflection of your voice, turn your back so she cant see you say it, and she still understands. They are wonderful dogs-- and I hope you vet flushes all the toxins out of his/her system successfully.

Just sending a quick hello to everyone from the cruiseship! Everything is wonderful! We ran into two different families we know whose kids were in the same elementary school class of only 10 kids-- so 3 of the original 10 are here. How wild is that!! One turned 21 yesterday so they had party. My DH also had a bday on xmas day. They did a fine job of embarassing him at dinner!

Must run-- off for more partying and sun! Keeping my fingers crossed for weenie and mommusic (no pun intended, mommusic)!

PS There is a special CC’er who helped to meake this trip spectacular. If you are reading this-- THANKS AGAIN!! (you know who you are  )

Tagging along behind jym’s cruiseship greeting to say a belated
Feliz Navidad and an ontime Prospero Ano Neuvo to todos los pecadores.

Precious little Internet time here - we’re still not set up, so my MO is sitting out on the curb to catch my neighbor’s wireless signal. Ergo, only priority Internet activities allowed - to wit, billpay, find retail locations for needed stuff from San Diego, and check in at Sinners Alley.

DS here with his best friend from Tulane. We had a lovely Navidad. Today is DS’ birthday - or it will be when he wakes up :). Enjoying the 70-degree weather, DS’ good spirits, Wii bowling/golf/tennis/boxing. Not so much the Wii Zelda, but the kids occupied themselves with it almost todo la dia yesterday. If u are my Wii Guardian Angel and reading this, muchas gracias.

Our wonderful time has been marred by the sudden death of our young next door neighbor here in Baja. He was only 39. His wife is the one who built and sold us our home; the two have been our guardian angels the whole way here - showing us everything, helping us with everything and we have become good friends. He died three days before Christmas, en route down here from his business in San Jose. Apparently, he was one of those people with a viral heart condition which rarely activated but could make him vulnerable. He didn’t feel well before boarding the plane and things worsened in flight. They got him immediate medical attention upon landing, but it was too late. Much sadness mixed with trying to make a holiday for his 8-year old son and all of the nieces and nephews.

Another reminder to hug our own and count our blessing. Don’t want to dampen the SA spirits, but I know this is the place we come with the happy and the sad

jmmom, so sorry about your neighbor.

Happy Holidays to everyone. Cruise ships and sun sound fun. Weenie - Sorry to hear about your dog. Need the marmots to send some snow up to NH. Tired of skiing in the rain/wet snow. Fog cleared just long enough for me to teach a lesson this morning. Cold enough weather for the snowmaking guns would be fine.

S is home for a week with the dented car. Needs some body work to pass inspection. H is going to take a rubber hammer to the hood tonight. Does the fun never end? If we can’t get it fixed by the end of the week I will have to fly him back to Pittsburgh. Do you think if he starts walking he could get there by the 3rd?

jmmom-
I have forgotten where you are at the moment. I am so terribly sorry to hear about your neighbor. That is tragic.

Best wishes to all for the remainder of the holiday season. And perhaps Denver will send some of their excess snow to NH and VT. Sounds like Colo. may be getting more than its share, with another storm rolling in. Funny to watch the weather forecast on CNN from the caribbean-- the cities shown on the screen are not NY, Denver, Miami, etc, but Charlotte Amalie, San Juan, etc. No snow here…

Best to all who are healing from illness, injuries, dented cars, etc.

Dented car was banged out enough to pass inspection today. Next step is oil change, haircut, dentist appt. and the drive back to Pittsburgh. Spent the day picking up three year olds. A little bit of snow. Could use some from Denver.

jym - My MIL is on a cruise this week. Met any blonde 75 year olds from Mass. on board.

Happy Holidays.

Hi all–back from a quick trip with DD, SIL, & S#3 to visit the relatives back east. What fun! and no snow to spoil the drive.

Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy New Year–children, neighbors, and dogs included.
