Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

A big bottle of Cristal on me for a VD rescue from page 2!

Keep the bubbly coming! And the chocolate!

Here’s to love, music, women AND men, and the random acts of kindness that sustain us all.

To love, music, women, and Burning Men!

And random acts of kindness. BTW, ivoryk, for you to emerge from your long lurk to cheer on Slugg - non-random, or at least non-trivial act of kindness…

Hi back at you SBMom! Wish you were here:).

So back about page 366 I shared the story of how I overslept on the morning of the SATs yet managed to get the girl delivered on time and around a good breakfast. Well, the results are posted today and the proof of the pudding . . .err, eggy muffin, is revealed. CR 780, Math 600, Writing 700. This is the girl who quit math in October, so I figured that that score was only going to go down, and early testing would be the way to go. The combined 1380 on the first two sections qualifies her for a $15K/year scholarship at the school she wants to go to, so happy feet, do your stuff! Drinks are definitely on me this morning. Since it’s wet and blowy here in the beautiful Northwest, how about hot cocoa and Kaluhua with extra whipped cream?

Ahhh, so the moominmama marmots are now available for other uses, wearing their Successful SAT Marmot Medallion as proof of their worth. Anyone in need?

And speaking of the weather , residents of the blithery, blizzardy Northeast avert your eyes. As I bask in the glow of yesterday on Coronado Island with my cousin. We “crossed” to the US side to take her to the airport to return to those blithery blizzardy places. Spent the afternoon at the Hotel Del, walking on the perfect sandy beach. Ate at the Sheerwater outside in perfect temperatures overlooking perfect skies and sky-blue ocean. To cap it off, the food was wonderful. The crab bisque may well be the nectar of the gods. No wonder the rest of the country hates California. You/we (as I am now a part-time returnee) have it too good.

did I hear drinks are on me??

whoa, congrats moominmama and moomindaughter!!!

talking about being shown some love

Who knew the key to getting scholarship love was to oversleep then grab breakfast & run out of the house. Maybe those TSFH guys are on to something.

Moominmama – YAHOO! Merit money to a school that your daughter wants to attend! Great way to start the day!

jmmom, they can hate both of us. Yesterday afternoon I was in my bikini in my back yard.

Yay for the great SATs!!

SBmom and jmmom - they may as well hate all 3 of us. Here in FL we’re still running the A/C. It was 85 yesterday.

(In the interests of fairness, we’re headed for a cold snap this weekend. Temps are supposed to plummet to the 40s overnight…)

jmmom–ooh, aah, for southern Cali! My best friend got married in November (about 26 years ago) at the Hotel del Coronado and it was so lovely. I remember “birds of paradise” flowers blooming. Outdoors.

And to those of you in FL–too bad about the cold snap. Guess you’ll have to light a fire in your fireplaces to keep from freezing to death.

And meanwhile back in Ohio…Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for the congrats! Yes, the marmots can definitely go on their way, after a little R&R on the beach at the Hotel Del. They can make little marmot castles in the sand and sip bison grass infused vodka <a href=“thespiritworld.net - This website is for sale! - thespiritworld Resources and Information.”>thespiritworld.net - This website is for sale! - thespiritworld Resources and Information.;

I’ve been there, too, and it’s a great place. Is the Sheerwater in that gorgeous wood paneled room with the high ceiling? Did you know that’s where they filmed “Some Like It Hot”?

Just thought I’d let you now…I became a “Member” today…it feels like I’ve been posting here forever, but then I remind myself I was a longtime lurker first.

Now it’ll take me about 4 years to become a Senior Member.

Ice seems to be coating the entire eastern seaboard. Southern Cal sounds good right now, if I weren’t heading to NH which got 30" of snow this week. Probally missed all the powder, but will have a weekend of good ski conditions. February school vacation should be great.

Hey, sluggycongrats to MoominD! That’s a smokin’ SAT score. :)

Sluggboy has decided that Davis isn’t so bad, afterall. It was temporary insanity due to the new set of wheels. Who wants to sit in a freshman lecture hall when you can drive your friends home, have a band practice, help a friend move, drive home, spend the night, and drive back? Well, I would, but I’m not a 19-year old sluggbeast. ;)

Send some of that snow out West! Tahoe’s having an El Crappo ski season this year, and I’d really like to ski more than once this year. It’s currently 62 degrees in the SF Bay Area. All creatures great and small have started their annual migration to my yard. Brave sluggdoggie was barking at a deer on the other side of the fence, yesterday, until it lifted up its head and looked at her. I’ve never heard my dog stifle herself in mid-bark, but she did as soon as Bambi looked up and nonchalantly blinked at us. Exit sluggdoggie around the corner of the house. :)

TGIF, everybody! It’s beer and pizza night in Sinner’s Alley.

Can’t it be something stronger than beer? I’m looking for that concoction that will make the next six weeks disappear. Every day brings another ding in senior daughter’s self confidence, as yet another classmate yammers on about the latest acceptance. I’m one of those naive parents that thinks said daughter does not imbibe – but I’m about to recommend she start! This whole process is getting really old…

oh, ivoryk, of course you can have whatever your heart desires. That’s what the Alley is here for. And it will be served any way you like it, whether by marmots in little tuxes or Italian soccer stars in Chippendale costumes. ;)

Ah, yes, slugg. The False Alarm Transfer mention. Been there, done that. I hope the marmots stay on the case and fill sluggjr’s head with visions of UCDavis sugarplums. Save you an unnecessary spring term with sluggbeast underfoot and cramping your wine-drinking style :p.

oooohhhh… I think I’ll go for the Italian soccer option. Hope everyone has a nice, warm (!) weekend. Hot toddies all around.

Wait, Sluggson is staying at Davis? Must have been your non-reaction that convinced him to stay. Good job, sluggmeister!

Or maybe he found out about the feather duster get up and well, ICK!

Sluggie-
If Tahoe skiing sux, then our coupla days at Big Bear is gonn really stink! Pleeeez do a snow dance and move that NY snow to So Cal mtns for a nice early March dump!

Just sent s#2 off to visit s#1 for a 3 day weekend, to get a college experience. Mardi gras weekend-- what was I thinking??? (Not in NOLA, but still will celebrate, I am sure!)
