Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Alu and Thisyearsgirl, I used to garble “Allison” to D. Since my singing voice reminds most people of Tom Waits after a bad couple of nights, it’s a wonder the child can sleep through the night even now. (Literally, I have to have these “singer’s/screamer’s nodes” cut off my vocal chords. Already done it once. Sucks. God. I’m literally falling apart. Who knew we’d live this long?)

Have another drink, Mudge. And call the waitress over - I hear she gives good node rubs…

Good idea, crash. Make mine a red beer, with a cheap bar bourbon “back”. Oh, wait! It’s past five. Kill the beer.

Isn’t that the surgery Julie Andrews had that went wrong and then she sued? Remember? She used to have this fabulous voice and then it was ruined? The hills are no longer alive…

Alu, my problem is that now I DO sound like Julie Andrews. JK

jym626 - I have been on the lookout - for years - for an opportunity to take S to a production of Guys and Dolls. Why hasn’t one of the local high schools put it on? When I find it, want to come along?

I’m hoping he’ll have a visceral reaction when the song starts. I doubt if he has a conscious memory of it, but it could be hard-wired in there somehow.

jmmom -
Count me in! I’ll keep my eye out here too! Funny-- I’m having a senior moment-- can’t remember the songs I sang to my kids (which is probably a good thing) but I can still hear “I love you, a bushel and a peck…” in my head clear as a bell. So dopn’t count out your kid’s memory. It’s probably imprinted in there pretty firmly.

Jmmom - my daughter’s high school did Guys & Dolls her Freshman year! She was a Hat Box girl - she did a mock strip tease dancing to “Take Back Your Mink”.

calmom- I <3 that play! How many plays can incorporate a mock striptease, performed by a Freshman girl, and still get our parental unadulterated approval?

Pass me one of whatever Adelaide and Nicely-nicely are having…

'Mudge, it could be worse: you could sound like “Tiny Tim.” And, no, not the one from Dickens. On third thought, you could look like TinyTim.

My D had the lead in Guys and Dolls a few years back and I’m wondering if Calmom and I happen to live around the block…Oldest S just saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels wqith John Lithgow and loved it. Has been playing the sountrack ad nauseum for the past three weeks…

Broadway is such a thrill but I have to say that High School musical productions are often just as compelling sometimes (even when your own Kid’s not in it!)

my oldest daughter was in guys and dolls- I think when she was a junior- she is very petite and she played Big Jule
Great fun for her since most of the scenes she was in with senior boys.
Her senior musical was A little night music- IMO not so much fun.( and personally I can’t stand Send in the Clowns)
They had great musicals 9th grade I think it was On the 20th century & 10th was Pirates of Penzance.

Where are the Dodds? Did they pass out somewhere? Or go on vacation? Doddsdad, afterall, was the one who enticed us all here in the first place and then he ducks off, leaving us high and not so dry…

Here we are Crash. We are recovering from the mad frenzy that is the end of school. With both of working in the schools, trying to check out of our offices, return keys, etc. we haven’t checked in with CC lately. Our apologies.

Doddsmom,

Then you really need to take a load off your feet, have a seat and a cold one on Curm.

Wow, Sinner’s Alley is booming! I need to check more often so it doesn’t take so much time to catch up. I’d like a dry Reisling please. It’s been really hot the last week or so.

Crash, I noticed Doddsmom never answered your question.

It’s funny that you would ask about threesomes because I tried to get Doddsmom interested in foursomes a few years ago. I thought it would be fun to do some couple-to-couple stuff. You can really get to know people when you play a round with them. Doddsmom was reluctant because of some previous experiences, but I finally convinced her to at least consider the idea. I started her out slow and easy, just us. There were other people around but she seemed to adjust to that. We kinda eased into it, and after a little warmup, she started enjoying it, even getting excited! So I thought we should go for it, pull out the big stick and really start swinging! That was my mistake. I don’t think there were any other women around so that may have been part of it. She may have intimidated with only guys around. She’s usually very good at anything she tries, but it was just too difficult for her. She REALLY didn’t enjoy it!

Anyway, that was the last time I’ve been able to get her close to a golf course. I still think that I had the right idea taking her to the putting/chipping green first so she could experience some success. But when we moved to the driving range, she had a hard time connecting solidly with the ball and she got frustrated. If I can ever get her interested in golf again, I’ll let you know.

Anyone know any good golf jokes?

Yeah - we’re getting naughty again. It’s so distracting from REEL life!
Welcome back.

Not sure the degree of naughtiness is appropriate here. Can y’all ratchet it back a bit and perhaps not hit the bar til the end of the day? Maybe the naughty posts can be handled with PM’s and not out here? Its a little too raunchy for this hour of the morning.

hey jym,

In some part of the world it is already nitetime, which is why sinner’s alley is always open. Can it now be considered a seedy place?

Sorry jym! No offense intended but if I went too far, I’ll ask that the post be deleted.
