Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Yeah, I THOUGHT we were doing a flashback here… :)

(And I’m pleased to note that I reported the same “best show” in both threads, whew!)

Hey audio!
Well… I know I heard it somewhere  In all seriousness, I believe I started a side thread-- The conversation of concerts we’d attended was being discussed in 2 places simultaneously, as we were waxing nostalgic about something or other back in late '05. It just happened to be when I was going to see the Paul McCartney concert, which was FABULOUS. This week I am going to see Billy Joel. Has anyone seen his recent tour? Any comments? Audio??

Saw Billy last year. You will undoubtedly see a great show. He had a great band, played many of his hits and had remarkable energy. I believe the concert lasted close to three hours including encores.

Here’s the setlist of the show I saw (salivating yet?):
Prelude/Angry Young Man
My Life
Everybody Loves You Now
NY State Of Mind
Stiletto
Zanzibar
Allentown
Billy the Kid
Sometimes A Fantasy
All for Leyna
Goonight Saigon
Movin’ Out
Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway)
Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)
River of Dreams
Keepin’ The Faith
I Go To Extremes
We Didn’t Start The Fire
Big Shot
Still Rock ‘n’ Roll to Me
You May Be Right

Only The Good Die Young

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Piano Man

My next show is (what’s left of) The Who in mid March. I heard this current tour is quite good, with Zak Starkey (Ringo’s son) on drums.

Hot spit, audio. I can’t wait!

I LOVE “Irreplaceable”. Also “Last Night” (Diddy and Keyshia Cole).

I have to confess that I have vowed never to become the type of old person who thinks the world has gone to hell in a handbasket. So I make an effort with music. Really loved Eminem too.

BTW, I hope everyone here is aware that SBMom and I appear to have lived fairly parallel lives. Despite that fact that she is a wee baby of a girlie.

Ya know, if I were single, I might ask for an introduction to SBbrother. A guy who brings his own oregano to the concert, just in case - I imagine - the seasoning on the arena pizza is not quite up to standard ;)… this is a guy with discriminating taste.

urp*

I may be sick. Hot spit, pizza, oregano and women. This can’t be good. :(

Alum and SBMom, per previous posts, you may enjoy listening to “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse (check it out on Youtube). I thought it was a re-release of some sort but no–it’s a young UK singer with a throaty jazz voice singing about her fight with her record label when they tried to make her go to, you guessed it, rehab. It’s on the top 25 playlist over here.

Real catchy.

LOL jmmom. Way ahead of Chez Panisse, Nigella, Emeril…

cheers, another throaty english girl: Natasha Beddingfield (“Unwritten”)

Alu: BTW wee baby = made my day.

Very familiar with the Bedingfields. There is a connection down under.

I went to the US festival in San Bernadino in 1980 something. Steve Wozniak put the thing together so there were tents of computers along with two days of music and 104+ temperatures and Santa Ana winds. The line up was pretty spectacular - The Police, The Ramones, The B-52s, Talking Heads, The Cars, The Kinks, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jimmy Buffet, Jackson Browne, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Greatful Dead, Fleetwood Mac (clearly in we hate each other mode)

Best Oscar look: Penelope Cruz & Helen Mirren?

Helen Mirren. Best anywhere anytime look.

I have GOT to go buy the DVDs for Prime Suspect and watch them again. If I am ever reborn as a lesbian I will be in love with Helen Mirren.

Talk about an elegant, sexy post-50 look… I am ALREADY in love with Helen Mirren just for that example!!

Post-60 for Helen, SB. I believe she is 61. I thought the whole Oscar fashion parade this year was remarkably elegant and tasteful, almost across the board. Fewer bodices held on by double-sided tape; I didn’t see any silly dresses made of swans’ necks and feathers, etc.

61-- Even better.

And Diane Keaton also looked very good. I may have to try her tinted-specs-to-obscure-my-crows-feet approach. Effective!

Helen Mirren has had the older woman thing down since she was young. I believe she was romantically linked to Liam Neeson when he was just a babe…and she was, um, older:).

TYABM, we should have Helen for our goddess in the msteeing temple.
