Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

sybbie, How did you get your daughter involved at 3 AM? Call her on the cell phone? Pound on the wall and scream?

I can’t imagine getting a phone call at 3 AM… “Hey, can you come over and let me out??”

Exactly, I called her through the wall and said could you open the door.

She said when she first heard the door rattling she thought someone was trying to break in but the dog was not barking. When she first could not get the door open I told her to go back to bed because the maintence main was suppose to come in the morning to fix the AC or I would just call my brother to come over. She said she could not get back to sleep and was determined to let me out. She went through my batch of screw drivers, pryed the cover plate from the door, used my gardening shears to cut to cover off the door knob and unscrewed the locking mechanism so that the door know could fall out and them removed the cylinder.

Shoot, we went to In & Out and I forgot to order fries well done. Guess we’ll have to go again next week so I can do that . . .

Sybbie – awww, what a sweetie pie of a daughter you have!

ok, SA folks, i am looking to you for your creative input.

i adopted the cutest dog yesterday afternoon. he is about one year old, he is an adorable peke-a-poo, blonde in color, happy, just wants to be petted, good on a leash, housetrained–just about all you could ask for. however, we don’t seem to be fond of his old name. JB–short for jitterbug. new home, new start, new name!

my family enjoys all sports (especially golf and we live on a course) some of the names i like seem too cliche–wrigley (go cubs!) or bogey

anyway, if you have some ideas, let’s hear 'em!

wbow-
We were in a similar situation with a dog we were in the process of adopting. His original name was “Colby” but the kids of the family he went to couldn’t pronounce it called hom “Cody”. I don’t know how well a dog can discriminate such sounds, so he probably couldn’t tell the difference. Long story, the family that we were adopting him from decided they wated to keep him, so we had to return him :frowning: Now I know how adoptive parents feel. So sad…
At any rate, back to your situation-- you might want to come up with a name that sort of sounds like his current name. Is there anything in “the Windy City” that sounds sort of like “JB”? Or pick another sports team name like KC (“Casey”). Just be sure you keep that adorable peek-a-poo well groomed, especially in the hot summer months so he doesn’t have a bad hair day :)

thanks, i am hoping the groomer can squeeze him in for a quick makeover. he’s just a tad bit shaggy. the foster mom said he was due for grooming this weekend–but since i have adopted him on such short notice (well, the adoption was quick, but i’ve been looking for months!)

we are now thinking of some of our favorite characters in books…

iggy–ignatius from confederacy of dunces might be edging out some others as we speak.

When we got our dog, she had another name. We changed it completely (Cookie) and she got along fine with it.
A cat from the streets adopted us a few years back, and we’ve always called her “Kitty”. Original, huh? My third, adopted son from down the street (my sons’ best friend) adopted a cat after the hurricanes- he named her “Little Kitty”. So now we have Kitty and Little Kitty. Pretty lame?

I’d name him “Peanuts”. (Peanuts, popcorn, cracker jack…)

Golf How about Mulligan?

How about Pete. I dunno, just the first name that came to mind . . .

I think Wrigley would be a great name for a peek-a-poo!

I had a friend who gave her cat her favorite girl’s name - Zoe. Then she got pregnant and found out it was a girl. She’d already use up her favorite name! What to do?! She renamed the cat who didn’t seem to mind at all.

I want to send a large drink to MOWC before she has to go without food or drink-- she is having knee surgery in the morning. Best of luck with that MOWC!!

My family had a dog named Sugar. She never ate table scraps but after eight years she developed diabetes! Insulin shots every day for six years!

Thanks. Yep- the Last Supper has occurred. Unless I get up at 3am for some food. Thanks for the drink.

We’ll be thinking of you Monday, MOWC. You can count on Sinner’s Alley for as many virtual victuals as you please!!

Hey mootie-
Virtual victuals! That just rolls right off the lips. I love alliteration!

Wishing MOWC a very speedy recovery!!

Best of luck MOWC. Hope you can resume your running schedule soon.

D passed her license. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing…

To anyone who lives in Baltimore: stay off the streets after 8/15. She’s heading your way!

m&sdad,
It’s a good thing! :)

Younger son has been driving for years, but he just started driving a stick last week. Thank goodness we live on flat land!

The other day he said he accidentally “gunned” the engine while shifting, and some guy was jogging on the side of the road at the time. Got a really dirty look.
