Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Hey, I’ll help with the sewing! I’m needing a new project to help me through empty house trauma combined with severe jet lag. We arrived home (Germany) on Saturday and I slept about 18 hours straight but have been awake almost constantly since Sunday afternoon. I guess I have night and day mixed up.

We left D in the states, and I’m really feeling it…please tell me it gets better! H seems to be coping much more so than I am.

mathmom, momof3sons, nymomof2,
Sorry- I got tied up with last minute stuff I had to take care of for my dad (and of course the one file I needed from 2004 I couldn’t find!) so couldn’t break away yesterday morning before taking him to the Dr. and then heading to HPN (that airport is like a sardine can!). Am now back at home, where I never before so greatly appreciated our central A/C ! I will be back-- We’ll plan ahead next time!!

Hey, I used to live right near there, too!

Of course, that’s before we hopped clear across to the left coast slightly over 10 years ago… My kids’ fond memories of their early life there are in large part what motivated them to both pick colleges in the northeast (sigh…)

Hazy Hot and Humid: the perpetual summer weather forecast in that area. Glad to hear things got taken care of, jym, and just slide on back into the Alley where it’s always a perfect temperature.

JYM, I figured something like that had happened.

Mootmom, I’d love to live in CA again. I loved it, but all except one brother-in-law in SF are on the east coast.

Cheers - of course, you are designing and overseeing construction of the pergola out back…

Oh hell, nevermind the pergola, I am putting up the brand new cyber chapel in P2n’s backyard.

First up? We’d better take down a few of those pine trees.

Rrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmm…goes the sound of the chain saw…

Chapel heck, let’s go for a cathedral = chapel on testosterone:).

Love the sound effects. Musicmom can you work that into the wedding march?

Are we all bridesmaids? I could really get into picking out our dresses.
Do we have to agree on anything? Colors have to be purple, red and burnt orange, I suppose.

That should cover the needs of the Winters and Falls among us. Can the Springs and Summers where softer shades of the first two?

What about showers? I’m not sure p2d has adequate barware. Can we just pack up some of the stuff from behind the bar, or do we have to buy new?

Ok my custom dress was a white strapless raw silk dress, fitted to the hips with a full skirt to mid calf, and then a sheer white sleeveless, scoop necked blouse that went over it. The blouse part had pearl buttons up the back, bands of raw silk around the neck and sleeve openings, and a floppy back bow. Flat white shoes with ankle ties. Big straw hat.

It was my vision what Audrey Hepburn would wear if she got married in Dior’s garden.

SBMom, your dress sounds stunning! My daughter is very Audrey-esque in her fashion taste, and I think she would love it.

We were at my mom’s a few weeks ago, and she pulled out MY senior prom dress, and amazingly, it met D’s approval (conditioned on it being shortened to below knee length). Now this girl is 5’5" and 95# with hiking boots on, so imagine my surprise when it was a couple of inches too small around the waist! She liked it enough that she asked me to bring it home and try to alter it…OK, so I couldn’t resist trying it on when no one was looking…not even close! Sheesh!

Okay I know you all are planning a wedding but my dear sweet pain in the you know where son has announced that he is no longer interested in a gap year. His first choice was stay home and hang out with stunning 16 yr old girlfriend and if that wasn’t going to work he wanted to head to college.
Many phone calls and he is reenrolled for the fall. Orientation and move in in 3 weeks. Not a thing done. (and son can not seem to detach from the girl long enough to think much about anything)
Does anyone make a good mojito? Hook up the IV

In the Alley planning is ALWAYS interruptable for the curve balls our sons throw our way. Mojito on the way for you. Maybe SBmom will let you cyber-wear her dress for a little while to make you feel better:). We all feel better when we are dressed like Audrey, right?

Rescue from page 3!

mom60–we feel your pain.

Wedding plans–marmot choir: I love it! They will sound heavenly, I’m sure.

Food–add some chocolate to the list and I think we’ve got it.

Band–I can’t be bandleader cause my playlist stops sometime in the 80s, I am ashamed to admit. Most of it was godawful, but it was what people wanted to hear when I was playing for money. So tell those boys to organize the dance music…I’m good with a fake book. ;)

(I’m just catching up cause we were out of town.) Had a wonderful time in the great state of Virginia (where the relatives are). On the drive back we stopped by UVa just to walk around Jefferson’s wonderful campus.

“Excelente! Excelente!”

That’s the mulitple sound of mom60 hooked up to the SA mojito IV.

Dresses? Shall we all wear our wedding dresses–illfitting though they may be? Why not? We’re sinners with boundary issues. We might as well represent… ;)

Mojitos!! my favorite, especially mango variety. The wedding dress:eek: What was I thinking!! those pics make the gigglekids really ROFL.

I still like my wedding dress. I never had any “fashion” sense so it was probably conservative enough not to look wacky 3 decades later.  :)

Now I wonder if I still fit into it? I probably do, cause I’m genetically um, slender. OK, flat as a pancake. Of course, I’m more wrinkled than I used to be…

http://www.langston.com/Fun_People/1993/1993AGD.html

Seeing you all in here having a good time takes me back to the Math Riots of '93. Party hard but party safe, people.

Wedding dresses? Great, I have two :p! I can wear them both, serially and in order. Shall we die them in the colors of our theme - burnt orange, purple and red? Each of mine had banded sleeves, as I recall. So I think I’m going with purple for the dresses, bands of red and burnt orange on the sleeves.

I can do burnt orange insets where needed to render the ill-fitting into a Perfect Fit. No one will be the wiser.

jmmom you make me laugh all the way in Shanghai…

I will just change the beads and pearls on mine to be the theme colors. Hooyah. This is going to be like Halloween in New York or SF…

Conyat - Geez, I was going to say a Hurricane for you but even in my Sinner’s Alley inebriation I wonder if that’s true after Katrina…well, some soju for you from my current post in the China branch.
