Special drink of the hour: the **Bloom Where You Are Planted **cocktail.

Girl or boy…DS was so much easier, DD is just frightening, Bullet still hasn’t driven with her…I just know that if he did she would storm in tears, not sure if it would be because they fought or he had a stroke in the passenger seat.

Okay next round

Baybreeze…great for a summer night
Rum
Coconut juice
Cranberry juice

Well Notre Dame parents have to wait until April 15th.

Luckily DS only now cares if he gets in…he has already made his decision.

mafool, if it’s strong it could be a ‘bloom where you are potted.’

pima, the baybreeze makes my mouth water! The beautiful thing about sinner’s alley is the wonderful opportunity to try new things. IRL, I can’t drink because of medication I take; so, these cyber-treats are a delight. Now, thin mints are a different story… I’m thinking we could crunch them up for a topping for some kind of “Terp Treat” for bullet jr’s college decision!!!

The Bay Breeze drink I am familiar with has vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice - it’s very refreshing. Your version sounds good too b&p - like a good vacation drink.

Astro…how many thin mints did you eat watching MD lose during the NIT?

Aren’t you going to one of the NCAA games soon?

Off subject here, does your child live on campus at MD?

My penalty for talking about serious things
Sea Breeze
Vodka
Grapefruit juice
Cranberry juice
Lime wedge

I am running out of recipes with names that you can repeat…as an ex- cocktail waitress, I am going to have to resort to the ones that lounge lizards asked for.

Pima,

Bar-tending was one of the jobs I had in college. It was in the era of the cream drinks: pink squirrel, grasshopper, etc. and just about any of booze blended with sour mix!

Love the name Bloom Where You Are Potted, SBmom. (Bartenders would prefer: Sit Quietly Where You Are Potted!)

Geez, I waitressed during college and law school. The bartender would get so p*ssed off at me when I brought him an order for 2 grasshoppers and 3 Brandy Alexander’s. You’d have thunk I was drinking them and had a choice! He was much happier pouring straight shots.

If someone came to the place that I waitressed and ordered a blended drink (daiquiri, margarita, pin colada), I did 1 of 2 things

ID…nobody over 25 drinks them
2.Tell them the blender was broken, as soon as I did I would tell the bartender that I said that and they would look at it and say…yep your right it is broken. :D

I am in such a great mood…DS made his decision for college, yes, it will cost me money, but he looked so happy that it is worth every cent.

I guess I need to find the bumper sticker that says my son and my money go to UMD. He is not even waiting for his other 2 that have not sent out

Hey jym – thanks for the drink. I’ll take something tropical w/ a little umbrella so I can pretend it’s warm and sunny – instead of cold, gray, and wet. One summer I dated a bartender – spent many an evening perched on a barstool sipping drinks he concocted. Some were pretty bad, but, hey – they were free!

Oh, and I went back to page 1, too – who knew there were rules for this place? I’ll try to stay in line!

Pima – I’ll drink to that! I have another year before going through all this again.

To Bullet, Pima, and their DS!

Thank you all!

I will also take a second to boast, DS was accepted to their scholars program and given a merit award, unfortunately not as good as U of Miami Fla(they offered 11k per year), but I truly am on cloud nine because he is not only going to his number 1 pick, but he will get his final dream of flying for the AF.

So on behalf of my lovely, wonderful, unbelievable husband who gave me this child here is my next recipe…Cheers

Funky Monkey

1/2 oz. Coconut Rum
1/2 oz. Banana Liquer
1/2 oz. Baileys irish cream

Mix with ice and strain into shot glass

BTW I hate BANANNAS!, Bullet loves them, thus that is why I gave the recipe!

It’s happened again! Drinking all afternoon in this bar I just discovered…funky monkeys, several breezes (I lost count in there somewhere), and now I have to drive home from work, potted as I am!

Here’s a great San Gria recipe (make 24 hours in advance to allow the flavors to blend)

1 large bottle Yellowtail Shiraz
1 pint Meyers Rum
1 C Sugar
1 C Orange Juice
1/2 C Lime Juice
1 Can peaches in natural juice
I usually add sliced strawberries, or apple slices, or some other fruit

lets see…you’re supposed to have 4-6 fruit servings a day? And a glass of that Sangria = 1 fruit serving, right? Sounds like a good plan to me.

Congrats to Bullet and Pima and their son. How wonderful that he will be able to attend his first choice school and follow his dream.

Is it open-mike bragging night? Yes? Good. Just a second while I retrieve my Spandrel (looks so much better with the asterisks)

DS (college sophomore) has a accepted what appears to be an excellent internship for the summer! Cheers!

It is far away from his DM :sympathy drink, everyone.

But it is in his field, with a company that has a great reputation, and pays obscenely well. Cheers!

He was also accepted, yesterday, to a University in Europe for study fall term. Cheers!

It is far away from his DM :sympathy drink, everyone.

But it is a great opportunity and will be great for him. Cheers!

OK, mafool, getting a little tipsy here …
