Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

LOL.

Can I just put my whole life on “player function” and then fake it?

Huh? Please?

I worked from home today, so I’m going to go downstairs and have a real one! (Though I never did buy those umbrellas.) Cheers, all!

putting us back in the forefront…

Chicky’s diploma frame was delivered today. There was a wave of excitement as I opened the box (she picked it out and I got the e-mail confirmation of the order and the charge to my credit card- sooo Chicky). I looked at it and said wow and less than a minute later I got so emotional and teared up as these 4 years have gone by so quickly and I still vividly remember when I dropped her off in Hanover (I found my drop off story in the archives!! Gosh I have been here to long)

Four years have passed and you know what, she is still not much taller, could pass for about 17 on any given day. We’re coming into the homestretch gang; she may end up living in a tent with ellemenope’s D because there are no concrete plans as far as what is next. It seems like yesterday

I remember when she was a little girl and we went to the park. I would park myself on the bench with my posse of park moms, and she would run off and play with the other kids. From time to time she would run back over to the bench to either check in to see if I was still there or when she needed something. Now the park is so much bigger, and she has much more space in which to explore. I take solace in the fact that no matter what park she goes to, I will be there sitting on the virtual bench, when she checks in or when she needs something.
We gotta put together a great park bench drink.

Sybbie! Tears!!

Park bench:
Pint bottle of Jim Beam
Motts Juice Box

Alternate swigs

Sybbie, I’m so teary now…I’m sure we can all relate
here’s to the cheers of our children’s successes
and the tears of how quickly it has all gone

Awwwww! Teary-eyed here. S is graduating from UIUC on Mother’s Day. I just realized we didn’t get the offer of a diploma frame in the mail, unlike past years, when he had umpteen credit hours but was certainly not graduating. Have to look into that.

I was primed for tears as the H of a good friend is in the hospital…not in good shape…life is so unfair to some.

Sorry about the downer. Pass the Jim Beam and the Juicy Box…

Sybbie. That is just wonderful. When we wander out of the Alley, we will amble on over to your bench and sit ourselves down.

thank you sybbie.

Wow, sybbie. That was powerful.
So many of us have been on this journey together. In today’s mail came DS’s official graduation invitation/program. Where did d 4 years go???

Oh golly. I just post #10684 as “Chucky’s diploma frame was delivered today” – and kept thinking, Chucky, who is Chucky? Then I finally saw that it was Chicky.

Ohhhhh . . . I get it.

I guess it is getting late . . .

But, Congratulations.

We have two graduating this year. One in four short years. The other in eight, somewhat longer, years . . .

Just got an email that grad announcements have been shipped. Hope I can squeeze in on the bench, could use some company.

Hayee, what’s shakin’?! Working in cyberspace reduces one’s attention span to zero, so I’m going to take everyone’s word for it that Sybb’s post was tear worthy. :::sniff:::

Something about grad announcements which I started to order this week, but didn’t finish because I had to send an email to the sluggprincess and ask her what her official major and minor are. Once upon a time it was Biology, then BioChem, and I’m pretty sure that it’s Chem, now…At least, I think that’s what it was before she left for Denmark a year ago to go live with Mr. Danish physicist-Asperger’s guy. I think that her minor is in Physics, but I’m not entirely sure about that.

There was some sort of news about not finishing a class in Denmark. I didn’t get the whole story because she was explaining it all to me in classic Gloria Swanson style as she made her way down the hallway on the way to the bathroom.

And, so it shall be (because the Mother of all Sluggs says so): Chem with a minor in Physics. Grad-i-ation, here we come! :D

I relied on my graduate to order his, so who knows if there will be any to mail… He did order his cap and gown, but apparently only because his girlfriend insisted they go together. This may actually happen!
Welcome back Slugg

Hi Slugg!

What’s this about Denmark?

graduation announcements? they make those for college? Not something on my son’s list of things to order, I’m afraid.
I do hope he got the cap & gown. He did get tks to the ceremony for us! :)

Slugg, my girl

Welcome back you have been missed. I hope that you catch us up on the latest adventures of evilneighbor, the cat, sluggjr andsluggprincess. Soooo, what’s next? Will we have to make room for her in tent city?

mommusic,

Yep, there are graduation announcements. If college has an on-line bookstore or store, you can probably order the announcements and diploma frames. I am really suprised that whatever marketing company the school uses hasn’t flooded your mailbox with junk mail about all of stuff you can order as it can slowly take on a life of its own. In our situation, they take about 2 weeks from the time you order so you may still be able to get them.

No tickets required as the ceremony is on the green rain or shine. However, chicky said that she will arrange to have someone hold seats for us for a nominal fee (she said this is big business and students will hold seats for you  ) She is finally finishing the gym requirements but still needs to swim those 2 laps. I still think she is going to show up to the ceremony with wet hair.

Hiya, Mstee – SluggyD just got back from 10 months in Denmark. She did a year abroad through UC at the University of Copenhagen. She came back a quarter early to finish up some grad reqs at UCSC. I can’t tell you how much fun it is for her to withdraw early from an education abroad program (EAP) where she technically withdrew from UC and was admitted to the University of Copenhagen. You’re f#@% if you ever want to return to the UC from whence you cameth before the EAP program ends.

She’s attending classes at UCSC, although no one is entirely sure that she has been readmitted. They should put it in their catalog that they don’t call UCSC the slugs for nothing! They’re slooooooowww… :)

hey, y’all. I almost made it a whole week without CC. See, I CAN quit CC, any time I want to. I spent the day outside planting flowers…now, I’m just relaxing on the couch and seeing what I missed while I was gone. When (if) I get up off the couch, I predict that I will barely be able to walk. It’s going to be an Aleve kind of night!!!

Today, I called the florist in the little town in Central Illinois where my mom lives, so I could send her flowers for her b-day… I asked them what outside flowers/hanging baskets they had, and they said all they had right now were pansies…still too cold for anything else!!! Gee, Toto, I guess I’m not in Kansas (or Illinois) anymore! So, to celebrate, I slathered on sunscreen and spent the day planting and sweating here in NC!!!

So, I think my beverage of choice tonight should just be a really cold beer. Cheers!

central illinois? that’s right in my backyard…

there are flowers just about everywhere now. i haven’t purchased any yet, it’s still a bit chilly at night!

want me to buy her a lovely basket and deliver it myself?

Here in west Michigan, we’ve experienced a 30-degree temperature drop after a cold front came through last night. It was in the high 70’s earlier this week; I don’t think it made it out of the 40’s today. And it’s getting darn cold at night. This weather pattern may explain the flower shop’s reluctance to “branch out” beyond pansies just now.
