Shoes are so personal. On my Christmas market trip last December, I wore my New Balance 880s alternating with Blondo booties.
I have worn so many different brands and models of walking and running shoes over the years. Just when I’ve worn one for a couple of years or so, and it seems like it, the mfr does something to screw it up and I have to switch. I’m on my 3rd year in 880s and they’ll work for a few more. (I have weird feet — I have pretty high arches and over-supinate, while most people tend to over-pronate.)
Go to a good shoe store and try things on. My local running store lets me walk around outside, up a hill and around the block to see if the shoes work, and lets me return them if they ultimately don’t work out. REI has a good return policy as well.
Good luck.
