(Even at a school like Princeton, 3 of every 10 acceptees choose to attend elsewhere).

At Skidmore, more than 2/3 of those accepted don’t enroll. In rough numbers, with 640 spots in the freshman class, they accepted around 2368, expecting, based on their history, that 28%, or about 644, will say “yes” to them.

Which means that waitlisted kids need to hope that more than about 1724 acceptees say “no, thanks,” and enroll elsewhere.
