Skidmore 2009 RD Acceptances/Rejections

In the wait list letter from Skidmore, they wrote, “This year our decisions were particularly difficult because the applicant pool was one of the strongest and largest in Skidmore history. Nearly 6,400 students applied for a first-year class of 650, making this one of the most competitive years in the College’s history”

I see how they would need to actually accept more than 650. Its pretty amazing that only 28% of those accepted choose to enroll. I guess among many accepted students’ list of potential colleges, Skidmore is not at the top. For my wait-listed daughter, Skidmore was her ‘reach’ school, and one she would dearly love to attend. Here’s hoping for 1725 acceptees to say 'no"!

The last unfortunate item in the Skidmore wait list letter was a Q & A sheet that indicated that wait-listed students may not end up receiving any financial aid. That would be the final killer for us, if our daughter did get in but only at $50k/yr.
