Skidmore Class of 2028 Official Thread

My daughter got in with a Skidmore grant as well. It’s the first time we’ve seen that in an acceptance. Is their grant basically the expected financial aid?

S24 accepted, but no aid beyond 2,500 a year work study. Does anyone know if there are still housing issues? When we visited a year ago they had crammed triples in a double sized dorm room. My son was very put off by the housing.

D24 waitlisted. Lots of waitlists so far of her non-safety schools :face_with_peeking_eye:. 1 rejection, 3 waitlists, 1 acceptance.

Skidmore sent a couple of emails to my son: one of them was a letter of financial aid conditionally awarded at this time. More than wonder, our needs are fully met.

Accepted!!! 3.8UW/4.2W, strong EC and great recs. Skidmore was my top choice, feeling so happy! To anyone who did not get in, rejection is redirection.

Son was accepted. He will be withdrawing though because he has 2 schools he likes much more. Hopefully the WL will move for those who are waitlisted.

Congrats to those admitted, and good luck to the waitlisted! My son is a Skidmore first-year and is glad he chose it.

Same–S24 waitlisted, and he got into Richmond with a nice scholarship. Scratching my head over this one.

D24 was waitlisted. Top 5%, 35 ACT, 12-13 APs, art portfolio, and a campus tour from a distant, unrepresented state. We also require a meaningful amount of financial aid. As indicated in another thread, this result wasn’t surprising. D24 certainly liked Skidmore, but it has a reputation for waitlisting strong students who need FA in RD. (Mind you, my D24 certainly could have been waitlisted for other reasons unrelated to FA. But that’s the story I’ll tell myself.)

Anyhow, congrats to all who were admitted. It’s a great school!

It occurs often when an extremely selective school considers the yield rates for its acceptance. If your D loves Skidmore, send a LOCI to the admission dept.; I believe your D will be off the list soon if she shows her strong intent to Skidmore. By the way, this is right for all waitlisted, and I hope you all have good news!

Have any students received an invitation to come visit the campus all expenses paid? We are wondering if parents can come to that weekend (on their own nickel). Also, we’re coming from PNW and not sure our son would arrive in time for activities?

It’s my understanding that the triple rooms for first years is the norm, and has been for many years. The kids adapt - many years ago as a freshman at Elon, we were in triples and it was totally fine!

My D24 was waitlisted—is there any information on how many students from the waitlist are eventually offered admission?

Their Common Data Set shares that for the last 3 years, the waitlist admit rate was 1%, 0, and 4%.

My daughter got off the waitlist today. It’s a hard choice at this point because she’s already committed elsewhere but there’s so much to like about Skidmore!
