Mky dermatologist insisted that a plastic surgeon do my mohs surgery, due to the location so close to my eye.

My regular dermatologist refers me to a Moh’s surgeon who also did a a year-long residency in facial plastic surgery. He’s pretty good, but he also uses a cosmetic surgeon for some of his cases.

The benefit of Moh’s is it’s one cut and the wound isn’t closed until all the margins of the lesion are clean. Otherwise, the surgeon removes the lesion, closes it, and sends it to the lab. If the margins aren’t clean, then s/he has to go back in at another visit and repeat the procedure.

My Moh’s surgeon doesn’t like the result on the side of my nose and wants to “fix” it. No thanks, no one ever notices it unless I take off my glasses and point it out. 12 years later, he mentioned it again when he removed a basal cell an inch from my eye. Again, no thanks.
