The ballot collection box that was installed outside the door of our town hall has such a narrow slot, it would not be possible to place trash in it or fish anything out of it.
I ordered some disposable face masks in April. They just arrived last week! They were mailed from Asia. I had completely forgotten about them.
I’m waiting for mail-order meds. I’ve been tracking them and they were at my local PO & out for delivery yesterday morning. By the afternoon, tracking showed them at the PO in the next zip code, but still to be delivered. They weren’t.
This morning they’re still at that other PO, but it says they’ll be delivered today. I’ll believe it when I see it.
It will take more days to get to me when they’re within 2 miles of my house than it took for them to get from the pharmacy to my area.
Its funny but I got one of those postcards from the USPS that they are sending out about voting early by mail…that had no problem reaching me…LOL
We’ve had mail-order meds for years. There were two instances that stand out – the mailman delivered the envelope that was torn and missing meds (I chased him down the street that time), and meds that never arrived until four months later.
I haven’t thought highly of the USPS for years now. We’ve had mail clustered at our office for years now. Postal workers have stolen gift cards/money from envelopes and dumped mail in ditches and hoarded mail in their homes in my general area.
So guess what showed up in my mail today, my lost in transit package! After July 20th in Portland, there was no tracked movement until October 7th, when it showed up in Memphis. My guess is the package was found somewhere and continued on its journey.
That’s worse than my package experience with USPS. A baby gift went from Atlanta, to Indiana, to NJ (altho it took several days before it left Atlanta). I figured it would arrive at it’s destination on LI anytime, but, instead the next update showed it in Utah!!
It stayed there for several days, them made it back to Indiana. No movement for 5 days from there. Contacted the company and they sent another gift by Fedex that got there in 2 days.
I had given up on the original gift, when I got an email that my package had been delivered. It took a total of 18 days to get there 11 days later than the original estimate. Now the recipients have 2 of the gift.
Our mail gets here very late most days now. Today it came just before 6 pm. Sometimes it’s after 7. We’ve lived here 24 years and never seen it this late.
I’ve done 5 large bulk mailings in the past two months ranging from 330 to 4,000 pieces. All going locally. All have been received the following day.
Our local Postmaster has publicly stated that he is prioritizing official election mail.
Yes, the mail service has been a lot slower this year.
After my chronic complaints about our local P.O., I have to hand it to them this week. H dropped off our absentee ballots on Wednesday at a drive-up collection box by the P.O. that’s usually emptied at 5:00 p.m. At noon today I checked a state website that tracks ballots, mainly just to make sure I had the correct site bookmarked, and was surprised to learn that our ballots had already been received and processed.
Our news just showed all the ballots at the post office. Today was the first day they were sent out, and the Sec of State decided to put first class postage on them. We’ve been voting by mail for 7 years without an issue in receiving ballots mailed by bulk mail but she wanted to be extra sure.
