Small schools that feel like bigger schools?

Re: Baldwin Wallace. Its been on the list. How is the surrounding area? How do kids get into the city?

Xavier also on the list. I hope to take both kids there ( a hs 23 anx hs 25) for a visit.

One kid really wants out of the midwest but hoping just a different city might lure him.

For my son, good course options, solid school spirit, lots of activities make a small school feel bigger.

Roanoke had been on the list but unsure about the surrounding area. Is there enough to do to make the school feel bigger?

We didn’t tour Roanoke College but my daughter looked at Hollins (women’s college just outside Roanoke) and we liked the city of Roanoke. It’s a great place for an outdoorsy person who likes activities like hiking, mountain biking, etc.

BW is very close to Cleveland but Berea is a cute little town too. For music or music theater, it’s a solid choice.

How about Ithaca College. Roughly 6000 undergrads with a strong music program. In a great college town it shares with Cornell.

Maybe Trinity University in San Antonio?

Perhaps Gonzaga (WA) or Seattle U (WA), but I’m not so sure about the strength of their music majors.

U. of Denver (CO) seems to offer several different music-related majors and seems to be a good choice for creating a larger school feel.

If Catholic colleges are OK you may want to look through the list of Jesuit colleges – most are mid-sized urban universities and they have a variety of different academic thresholds and geographic areas. Some seem to be on your list or recommended already. Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities--Jesuit Colleges and Universities

Loyola Md, St Josephs in Philly, Goucher is small but fairly urban with other schools nearby.
