The NPC was off a fair amount in our case (7-10K), but I believe that the financial aid package at this point is preliminary. We will see where the final number comes in and if we can get it closer to the NPC number.
Daughter deferred. Congrats on those accepted!
My understanding is that they move applicants to ED2. Good luck. Hope all works out. By the time Smith announced, we had a number of good academic and financial fits (Beloit, Willamette and Agnes Scott). Given the crazy application process, daughter was just happy that she had some really quality options before Smith announced.
I canât find a private Facebook group for Smith parents, just the group âSmith College Parents and Familiesâ which is public and doesnât seem very active. Does the private group have a specific name I can search?
My daughter was accepted! Weâre so excited and in shock. Hopefully her stats will help others like me who obsessively stress over this college process and look for data:
â˘GPA: 3.73 UW, 4.45 W (consistent Bs in math and a few in other disciplines)
â˘Applied test optional but provided AP scores (5 WH, 4 Bio, 4 Lang)
â˘10 APs, 1 DE, 11 honors classes
â˘Top 10% (No ranking, just decile provided)
â˘strong awards, ECs, and leadership
â˘3 letters of rec (AP science, AP history, and performing arts director/teacher) which I think would be strong
â˘alumni interview: they talked for nearly an hour and my daughter felt great about the experience.
â˘no hooks
â˘large public school, middle class family offered significant aid
The best part? We donât have to spend winter break stressing about college apps!! Merry Christmas to us!

Wow!!! Congrats!!!
Your daughterâs profile is very similar to what mine had, and I do believe they look at âfitâ over statistics. She graduated from Smith in '22. Her record at Smith was about the same (no 4.0 LOL), and she has had great success with internships, jobs, and grad school acceptance. She loved her professors! With their guidance, she went in with one major in mind but no real idea where she was headed, and came out with something completely different that she is quite passionate about. She made great friends and one of her roommates now is another Smithie. Congratulations, and I hope yours has a great experience, too!
Congrats!!! And thank you for sharing your daughterâs stats!!! Super helpful!
Glad to hear about the significant aid too!!
3.8 UW at Chicago public magnet school, hard honors and 7 APs musical theater and classic vocalist p, denied at Wesleyan ED 1 âŚ. She sent tapes of her singing and had funny essays with great personality. She was admitted today ED2. Thrilled.
Congrats!!! My daughter applied RD so itâs going to be a long 2 months to find out!!
