Smith vs. ???

Ah. I’d just remembered the Wed/Thur frame from SG’s post.

In slightly related news, I just received an e-mail about graduation…for 2008.

Leaning toward W; still reviewing +/- and haven’t bought a sweatshirt

In D’s case:

Best overnight experience = S (got lucky having sophomores @ S)
Best 1st impression = S (got lucky with the tour guide)
Best interview = W
Most convincing academic match for D’s pre-med/vet bent = W
Best waterfront = W (has several sailboats and decent sized-lake); potential for teaching sailing
Classroom visits = tie
Dining experience = Smith
Student center = W
Access to guys = tie
Science facilities/profs = tie
Most up close and personal squirrel = S
Eye-catching chipmunk - W (I know…having some fun here)
Stipends/pd internships = tie
Financial Support = W hands down (in our circumstance-this can be all over the board for others)
Alumnae with professions = to D’s goal = W
Prettiest campus = W (500 acres w/lake, woods, walking trails)
Dorms/houses = S, though both guarantee singles to Jr/Sr; hit or miss on single as Soph @ W.
Music facilities = S, though this is not a priority; Music lessons = tie
Opportunities with other colleges = tie (though very strong tie between W & MIT guys)
Campus organizations = tie
Ethnic diversity = W
Most colorful sweatshirts = S (trying to cover all the bases here!)
Best curriculum = tie (since D has to take certain range of courses @ ea for grad school the open curriculum not as critical); still plenty of room for dbl majors/other interests – again a very subjective matter

Others may argue with some of the above, but, these are our observations during the times that we visited the schools. There are so many variables in this quest, it’s really not worth arguing about for those of you who may be out there looking to do so! Damn good schools all around in my book!

Will keep you posted…next edition coming soon.

SailorGuy

She can’t go wrong, SG. All she needs to do is figure out which best fits her personality and needs. If it’s Wellesley, we’ll all be a little bit sad here, but we know Wellesley will gain another outstanding student.

Sigh. What MWFN said.

SG…I would have thought the personal squirrels would have put S on top??? I guess I didn’t pay that damn squirrel enough nuts, as it was supposed to jump up on your D’s lap and do the macarena? Can’t find good help nowadays!

Maybe all the squirrels were sunbathing after a long winter and forgot their duties.

LOL That’s what I get for paying in advance! Especially after I took the time to teach it the macarena !
