Thanks!
If lucky to get an invite… any idea of when they could push out notifications of finalist selections for either merit scholarships—Hunt or President’s?
FYI - I’m the same one who started the thread (was unable to get back into my account for whatever reason).
Last year the invites for both scholarships went out at the end of the 3rd week of February. Additionally, last year, the Presidents and Hunt finalist event was done concurrently around the 3rd week of March. However, this year the President’s Finalist event is occurring a couple weeks earlier (I believe in the first week of March), which is why I’d expect the invites to go out at least earlier than they did last year.
Do they send an email letting you know if you’ve been invited down to interview like the email sent saying to apply? Or does it appear in your portal? Thanks for all the info!
Things could change this year but the finalist interview invite was sent via email. The scholarship decision was posted on the portal about a week after the finalist event.
it looks like the PS Finalist invites have gone out
Did the Hunt invites trail the PS invites in previous years? If so - was it a matter of days (or a full week) delay? If not - any clarity why the PS letters went out last Friday, but nothing from Hunt?
Is there a “waitlist” if someone turns down an interview spot for whatever reason (President or Hunt)? Same question on if they offer to someone, and they ultimately turn it down and go somewhere else - do they go down the que to the next best candidate interviewed; or not?
Very much appreciated - any help or insight you can provide! Based on the timeline guidance it seems like both should have gone out by last Friday - and I have not seen any sign of any Hunt invitations going out, and wondered why.
I have the same questions so thanks for asking! Strange no word on Hunt yet they plan to do interviews all on 3/1.
Same question as the above posters. Seems like notifications have gone out for President’s scholarship but absolutely no communication re: Hunt
In previous years Hunt and PS invites used to go out concurrently but this year the PS finalist event is happening 2 weeks before the Hunt finalist event, so if there’s any reason to explain the discrepancy it would probably be that.
To my knowledge, there is no waitlist if someone turns down an interview spot for either scholarship.
“ Leadership is the primary criterion for selection. Finalists are invited to interview (the interview is required for consideration for the Scholarship) on 1st Friday of March. All applicants will be notified of whether or not they have been selected as finalists via email in early-February.”
The website timeline indicates they are both March 1. Is there another timeline out there saying Hunt is March 15th?
Anyone have knowledge of how many typically are at PS interviews?
And many thanks for the reply!! Not looking to be argumentative- just trying to help myself and others waiting to understand what to expect with regards to timeline since the website timeline is just slightly ambiguous with dates.
Sure hoping Hunt is not 3/15 bc that is spring break for a LOT of us and out of town. Made plans based on the website saying 3/1. Hopefully we will get info soon.
Where did you get that info if you don’t mind me asking? Have heard it’s 3/1 for both
I have only seen 3/1 for both also per their website. I only said hoping not 3/15 bc of PrezBaller indicated Pres even is happening 2 weeks before Hunt.
Just got the email. It came in at 4:28pm. Rejected. Says they had 450 applicants for limited spots…prob taking SMU off the table now even with Provost and Dedmans bc UT offer is better. Still in the waiting game at other schools not releasing until March. Congrats to those that got Hunt!
typically 50-60 finalists
Sorry for any confusion I might’ve caused but it actually turns out the Pres Scholar and Hunt Scholar interview events are happening concurrently as usual (Feb 29-March 1st). The dinners will be separate however.
Any thoughts on whether my student might be competitive for the President’s Scholar or Hunt Leadership scholarship?
