I was arguing about the price vs. coolness factor in clothes with a guy⊠(he supported that only expensive clothes were cool and I supported the opposite)

<p>I agree completely, randomgr. Some of the wealthiest people I know are the most trashy - they flaunt their money around in the most obnoxious manner. Havenât they heard that if you have it, you donât need to prove to everyone that you do? People who do that just make themselves look like trashy, new money types who donât have much at all⊠<strong>vents</strong></p>
<p>and go for it, philntex, lisae sounds fab-U-lous (and oh-so-pretty)</p>

<p>and doesnât that just sound idiotic? I meanâŠI could do that. Iâm satisfied with my naturally faded, coming-apart-at-the-hem jeans that Iâve had for years. Clothes are justâŠmeh.</p>

<p>well, iâm not so sure i am much of a rich âsnobâ.</p>
<p>in fact, most of my friends are not like me at all - one of my best friends is a girl who couldnt break 1000 on her sats, was hispanic, was very poor, and now goes to ASUâŠone of the reasons i am such a fan of affirmative action is because i want to go to a school where i can meet people that are incredibly diverse, but incredibly intelligent as wellâŠ</p>
<p>however, its often hard to avoid being percieved as a snob - simply because i spend alot of my time doing things other people canât afford (something i am thankful for)âŠi.e. going to nice restaurants, travelling, wearing nice clothes, etc.</p>
<p>once you graduate from princeton though, the likelihood of you becoming incredibly rich is probably much higher than if you went anywhere else.</p>

<p>i think that a lot of people make assumptions based on outer things, like some days ill be chilling around union square in torn jeans and a tee and ppl will think im totally a bum, and then the next day ill be on madison with an lv bag and ppl think im a snob. im not either, im just someone whoâs lucky enough to have parents whose jobs rake in a lot of $$, and theres no diff btwn me or anyone else.</p>
<p>mansion? i wish⊠fifteen years post pton graduation, maybe⊠i want a tudor mansion, or an italian baroque style⊠that would be gorgeous. the best part of where i live is itâs so easy to distract oneself while on runs - thereâs all these gorgeous old homes, and itâs easy to do an informal architectural critique when the middle miles get too painful!</p>
<p>my house was built in the 1920s, itâs mid-age for my area. anyone else have radiators? vile things, they sound sort of devilish when they squeal in the middle of the nightâŠ</p>
<p>too bad iâll end up living in a small flat, making no money because iâm still in debt from grad school⊠but thatâs okay, paying for pton undergrad was worth it :)</p>
