Are you currently in my neighborhood? Someone is bringing this snow:)

Here in the Shenandoah Valley in Northwestern Virginia, both my city and county have declared state of emergencies as well as the state.

This is pretty ridiculous.

3 days of no power, and an extra day of no phones, cable or internet. Now, it’s just started snowing again and we’re supposed to get 10 - 20"! Aaaaah! I will be HAPPY as long as we have power. Somehow, I don’t think that happiness will last… Let’s hope our meager leftover firewood will last at least.

And the airport better be ready for me on Saturday so I can head to New Orleans!

LW–ready to take back the thread title yet???:)

CIA - my D is there at JMU. I think they had school today for the first time since Thursday. I hope they don’t miss more this week.

A friend of mine calls it SnOMG!

Cartera, I’m from Harrisonburg. JMU is closing tonight at 6 p.m. and probably won’t be open tomorrow.

Thanks…

Snowmaggedon continues. It’s coming down hard here in Central MD. We may get another 14 inches by tomorrow. I had a guy out to work on the iced-up heat pump who said he’s expecting up to 20" where he lives, on top of over 30" Saturday. Mind you, we sometimes go an entire winter around here with no more than a few light snowfalls.

School just got canceled here in Virginia. Tomorrow will be the sixth snow day of the year, and the 4th consecutive one.

3 20+ inch snowstorms in less than 4 weeks. Hello record books!

Its all global warming’s fault!

The Washington Post is calling it Snoverkill.
My daughter’s college in MD is closed again tomorrow - they haven’t been in class since last Thursday.

I’ve heard it called Tsnownami recently also, but I am favoring Snoverkill.

Have been following this storm on Foot’s Forecast - they seem to have been rather accurate with predictions. The melodrama suits the mid-Atlantic snow panic mentality, that I shamelessly share. It’s also a collaborative/educational site.

[SPOT-ON WEATHER FROM A TEAM YOU CAN TRUST](http://www.footsforecast.org/)

I doubt our county will have school at all this week. We have 3 more inches tonight, on top of 28, with who knows how much more to go until 7pm tomorrow. Our supermarket parking lot looks like the Swiss Alps - there’s nowwhere left to put it all.

two kids at JMU got arrested and facing felony (!) charges for throwing snowballs at snowplows and a cop car. they were all over the news, even drudgereport, lol.

I read that in the school newspaper online. It’s a good thing some of my friends from school aren’t in college today - they would still be in jail.

It is raining here , following a few hours of snow before I went to bed last night…what a mess and they are saying on the news that we will switch back over to snow…I actually fell in when I took the dog out this morning …walking on hard packed snow, then sinking in the soft stuff…Stella found it amusing ;)

We only got 4.8 inches in Madison yesterday. This is the first time in the six winters I’ve been in Wisconsin that I’m glad to be here during this time of year and not back in DC/NoVA.

Looks like we will about double the Madison 4.8 in Fairfax. We’ve been lucky with power so far. Hang in DC peeps…

Have not seen any mail since last Friday. And we live in Wash DC, with clear sidewalks (we residents take our civic responsibilities seriously) and reasonably clear streets, except for those blocked by fallen trees, of which there are a few.

And yes, the snow is blowing pretty hard this morning. We got around 3 inches overnight and at least another 3-4 since then. Not so much except for the 24 on the ground. Of course, the day is still young.
