Cpt–school parking lots and the local public parking garage are where people in our town can park while they’re clearing. Also, any smaller streets which are not mandated to move from.
We have a driveway, and some others on our street do, so we can pull both cars in if we need to, though we tend to keep one on the street most of the time.
Last year I managed to shove my car into a slightly cleared spot in Baltimore for an hour or so and completely forgot to feed the meter. We got a ticket and they hadn’t even plowed yet! Luckily it was cheap.
Early in our marriage, we lived in a townhouse. Each house had its own assigned space. After a horrible blizzard, we and neighbors spent a day shoveling out. Good times. Anyway, a few days later, someone visiting for just a booty call backed into my space. Ugh. Wanted to do lots of evil things to his car. My neighbor had some choice words for the dude next morning when he ran into him leaving. Obviously the same amount of work goes into clearing a space on the curb and yes, I think it should be respected, even though technically it’s public domain. Yes, we see people put a lawn chair in the space afterward to keep it.
They had to delay the Patriots parade from yesterday until today so the plows could hit the streets, but the mayor of Boston warned parade goers not to climb on top of the 6’ piles along the roads due to fears of people falling off and injuring themselves. What a mess.
We live on an inside corner and the plows historically block our driveway. Our neighbors have about five cars, generally they have one in their driveway two in front of their house, and two in front of our house. We usually park in our driveway. Lately we’ve been parking on the street so the contractors can park in the driveway. For the last snowstorm we got the call that we should park in our driveway, so we did. The neighbors parked in front of their house, but not ours. The result is that they have two relatively clear parking spaces while the plows have fill up “our” two parking spaces with packed snow and ice. I tried to dig out a parking space for us this morning, but couldn’t so I moved my car in front of the neighbors so the contractors could use our driveway. Gvien the way they hog our spaces most of the year,I’m not feeling even a little bit guilty about it.
Ahhhh… so we assume the neighbors got the same phone call but ignored the part about parking in front of their house. Shouldn’t they have gotten towed then?
I’d keep using that spot then, as long as you want and not feel the least bit guilty about it.
