So, do we have happy or unhappy recipients of SAT scores this morning?

Congrats Hanna. Almost exactly the same situation with our S, much to everyone’s surprise. He went off on test day with much less preparation than he had last spring – no practice tests, hardly even gave it any thought beforehand. In fact, he spent the previous 48 hrs. on an overnight at one of his target schools that was 200 miles away. I was thinking he’d hold steady, possibly even drop a few points this time, even after he came home from taking the SAT and reported he felt pretty good about how things went.

So yesterday’s results blew our doors off. M:+100; CR:+50; W:+100. Only thing I can figure is that he was more comfortable this time around.

M: 800 (700)
CR: 780 (730)
W: 780 (680)

I’m really happy with my scores, esp. my CR score this time =)

CR 730 (previous: 590)
Math 730 (previous: 700)
Writing 720 (previous: 690)

I increased my SAT score 200 points with self-study =D

Bclinton, we’re rejoicing in the same vein. Congrats to all! And thanks, SDMom, for that link.

DS scored a 2080 taking the SAT for the first time as a HS senior (he did take it as an 8th grader, but those scores don’t show on the record). His writing score was poor relative to the other scores, and his 750 math was a most pleasant surprise. Since most schools (if not all) he is applying to do not use the writing portion, his 1450/1600 puts him in the top quartile of every school on his list, which is exactly what we hoped to accomplish by taking the SAT! His 2 ACT scores put him AT the 75th percentile (or over at the one school he’s applying to that does superscore), but this score puts him over that 75th, which I, perhaps superstitiously 'cuz I have no concrete basis (only CC’ers would understand!), feel he needed to do to compensate for a weak gpa (to the extent that that’s possible), particularly at our state flagship. His chances are still slim, IMO, but I feel like he’s done all he can.

The actual correspondence between questions incorrect and score won’t be known for another few days when the “full” score reports are available on the CB web site. It is still possible that the top of the math curve was 800-800-770-750-… Probably was 800-770-750 though. Anyone lucky enough to be worrying about that should feel pretty happy :)
