So...is the economy getting better?

Yeah…I did…because I thought you were offline.

I can’t remember what I originally wrote. :)

Today…the Schwab stuff… It is a continuation from earlier posts in this thread.

I did not feel like switching it over to the other thread.

Another positive sign? I went to my local wine and spirits store to purchase a few $55 bottles of wine, checking online the day before, they had 25 units in stock…i got there the next day, and got the last 4…

Those are WSOB…wines my wife won’t buy…

So…last year would those wines just sit?

Retail sales for March were up 0.8% which is a good sign. The negative news is back to Europe.

I think they would have been there for a longer period of time, great deal, they cost 120 each at the winery…

Wsob?

A friend of mine got a hold of 10 uncustomized pro stock hairpin tennis racquets (no grip, pallet, strings, etc.). He sold 8 of them for 350 Euros each in a day. He charges an extra 50 Euros to add the pallet, buttcap and grip. These frames were for a top-ten ATP Pro and they are very nice.

Wines Susan Won’t Buy…

A friend of hers made up labels and put them on expensive bottles of wine.

Pretty nice labels.

:)

…lol…

Ok , what is her price point?

Time limit on 1040X is three years so I guess that I don’t need to file one for 2007. It would be worth about $1,200. Oh well, there’s another donation to the US Treasury.

Just have the FBAR remaining now.

I don’t know…maybe 25 bucks…:)

I really don’t know why you guys…you BCEagle91… Don’t file extensions…

I am still waiting for a K1…

I used to file extensions all the time. I’m trying to get stuff finished on-time though so that I don’t have another three months to worry about it. Tax time is typically one of the worst times for me as I usually have other stuff going on at the same time.

The way the IRS is going, they might have to file extensions to get permission to delay our returns because it is going to take them so long to process our returns.

Customers who used TurboTax and elected to have tax software electronically import their brokerage account information had the 1099-B information on their cost basis pulled in from financial companies for them, said Bob Meighan, a vice president at Intuit Inc.’s TurboTax.

“They’re sort of being shielded from all the complexity that’s going on behind the scenes,” Meighan said. “We did have to write quite a bit of code to accommodate the new 8949 and all the exceptions that form is designed to handle.”

I’m honestly puzzled by the economy. Some good signs and some bad signs. Mixed. I don’t sense a true surge back to prosperity going on. It reminds me of “slack tide”.

My only real conviction about the economy is that it is morphing into an economy we haven’t really seen before. Globalization and technology . . . they have had quite an impact.

Looks like they needed to write more code…

If the brokerage data coming in is really bad, there’s no amount of code that they could write to fix it. I hope that the IRS’ code is up to snuff. I’m guessing that they’re running it in “relaxed” mode. I mailed my return Thursday morning. It’s not even in the system yet. I’m curious as to how long it takes for them to digitize my return.

It appears that you can avoid people using your SSN number for fraud if you have investment income or any kind of form out of the ordinary. The folks filing false returns just do a basic return to get a debit card and the IRS will flag the return if the 1099s aren’t reported or there are other, similar discrepancies.

Bought back my calls (sold for $9.60 three weeks ago) for $0.17 today. Then sold two contracts for May 19 $620 strike for $25. Love this volatility!

Nice…

On the economy theme, I just had two more meetings with prospective clients requesting proposals for work. The pace of requests is pretty high.

Shawbridge…can you give us a general idea what the work is?

It’s a pretty niche kind of high-end management consulting. If I identified specifically, it would be pretty easy to find me as we are well-known in the field. I’ll be happy to tell you in private but don’t want to broadcast because I use this board to ask questions/make comments about our kids. You don’t appear to be PM-able.
