So, my life completely fell apart- just in time for Christmas. Advice?

Nattilee

Thanks so much for the update! This is wonderful news!

This is great news! Hurray!

Nattilee,
I have goosebumps from reading your update! You have some terrific options already in hand. Let us know what you decide.

Nattilee - Thanks for sharing the good news, and best of luck as you make your way forward!

Huge Congratualtion Nattilee!!! Which ever school you decide on will be a better school for it!

Wow! This is wonderful news! You just made my day. Thanks for checking back & sharing the good news. You have some great options – and you deserve all of them for persevering through the tough times.

I don’t have any advice other than the fact that UVA might be closer to home & your mother than UPenn. But it all comes down to what you want to study & which you feel is the best place for you. You’ve done an amazing job & have even more amazing things ahead for you. Congratulations!

Congratulations! And thanks for letting us share in the good news.

(On the R.A. front – the newer drugs are amazing. The GREAT news is that now that your mom has been diagnosed, the course of the disease can probably be substantially slowed, and she’s likely to feel a lot better within a few months after the treatments kick in. Patient subsidies are available from the drug companies if she doesn’t have insurance coverage and is low income. PM me if that’s an issue. I don’t have R.A., but have dealt with some similar issues.)

And Woo-hoo!

^^If Natilee decides on UVA, make that Wahoo! :D

What a fabulous update. You made my day!

Congrats and much success.

goosebumps for me, too. Kudos to you for hanging in there, and the best of luck to you going forward. You deserve it!!

Adding my congratulations! I love hearing such great news. Have fun making your decision.

Thank you everyone!! I’m still in shock from the good news- hoping I don’t wake up.

Youdon’tsay- I did Questbridge through regular decision. I never did their early decisions round because I was too unsure as to where I wanted to and could go to back at that point. So I was able to use my questbridge application to apply to most colleges, in place of their application.

12rmh18- Those are definitely important factors to me and a reason why I am leaning towards UVA. For a while, UPenn was my absolute dream school. And I thought I had absolutely no chance at getting in, right down to the very moment before I checked my decision. Of course, getting in was an amazing ecstatic surprise. But the few days before that, when I had already gotten my acceptance to UVA, I was really happy and excited at the thought that I was most likely going there. I think its a really good school, and what with the special scholar award. Plus its only two hours away, if something were to happen to my mom, an emergence, it would not be so hard to get home. I’m just going to have to really think about this is the next few weeks.

arabrab- Yeah, we were really scared at first. We had the image of her ending up in a wheelchair, but then her doctor blew that off. He said maybe twenty years ago that could happen, but not today. It was a bit of a relief to know this isn’t a HUGE deal, even though it is big. She has medicaid but we’re having a hard time finding an RA specialist who takes it.
