So where else are you guys applying?

MIT EA and Caltech EA

then Reed

then Indiana University
(keeping things simple)

MIT EA and Harvard, Stanford, Pton, and maybe Yale and/or Michigan Regular.

Reach:
MIT EA + Caltech EA
Stanford
Princeton
Yale

Match:
Rice ID

Safety:
University of Rochester

MIT EA (deferred)

Harvey Mudd
Carnigie Mellon
U Rochester
Case Western
RPI
McGill
BU

Atmospheric Science major, so my options were limited.

MIT and Cornell were my top two choices, with Cornell ED (Tough decision, but I felt it suited me better as a school; MIT remained my dream school), followed by UC Berkeley and Purdue, then Oklahoma, Penn State, and Wisconsin-Madison as backups. All three of the backups offered me full rides, but I think for the research career I intend, it will pay in the long-run to have an Ivy or renowned school on my undergrad diploma.

MIT EA (in)
Caltech EA (waiting)
Chicago EA (waiting)
Rice Interim (waiting)
URochester (waiting)

Thanks to MIT’s early acceptance, I can reduce my list significantly and not have to worry about safeties and matches. :D

Harvard, Princeton, Penn - Jerome Fisher.

Where else but at MIT can you get a list of suggested schools to investigate? This from [Matt McGann’s December 11 blog](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/the_selection_process_application_reading_committee_and_decisions/more_for_deferred_students.shtml).

If you read back to Matt’s entries from fall '04, he was doing little pieces on other colleges for several entries in a row. They start with the entry called “Schools of Dreams.” I think many of the schools on which he did pieces are included in the list posted above, but I think there are also a few others.

MIT EA(um… i’m happy)
