My dad went in on a pool with a group of people at work… 12 people total and everybody put in $20. So exciting to think about spending those greenbacks! ; -)

Would definitely buy a flat in the center of London (and a few other places around the country/world) and go on a HUGE vacay to Italy… LOL. But they tell you not to do anything with the money for 6 months to get used to the idea first. Ha!

DH came home & had bought $10 worth of tickets. That means we’ve now doubled our chance of winning (I’d bought $10 worth earlier today). I heard the state gets $.38 of every dollar spent, so we just helped bolster the state’s coffers by $7.60.

I texted my husband to buy a ticket today if he had a chance, and he wound up buying 5. He pretended that he bought 60 tickets just to be funny. I don’t buy lottery tickets regularly, but it’s fun to be part of something. Good luck, it would be great if someone on CC won.

Schools in Illinois will get money from the lottery too… problem is the state will just subtract that amount (and then some) from the amount they owe the schools already!

My H bought a few tickets. Although I dream about winning, I honestly do not think it would be good for me or my marriage. Money does funny things.

Has anyone done a statistical analysis on the expected return if someone forks up the money to buy a ticket for every possible set, with the # of winners determining the yield.

Here is my dilemma. North Carolina has a 7% tax on lottery winnings. Delaware has no tax. The lump sum is what, $400mm? Should I move to Delaware for $28mm? Seems like it would be worth it. NC of course would try to get their share, but you know, f- em! It was so much easier when I was poor and happy!

^^ Better yet, move to California, which doesn’t tax lottery winnings, and use that $28M in savings to buy a fantastic house on the beach in La Jolla, Malibu, Carmel, or someplace. It has much nice weather than either NJ or NC and fantastic views of the Pacific.

Bought 2 tickets today, although I don’t normally play. D2 (hs junior) wanted to know if she could major in something wildly impractical (she is thinking an English/Studio Art double major) AND if I would pay for her grad school if I win. I said I would. She made me pinky swear. :)

I recently told co-workers that I stopped buying lottery tickets during my divorce (used to get a $1 PowerBall most times when filled up my tank) because I didn’t want to have to share my winnings with my ex. They thought that was funny (don’t actually know why!). Never started buying them again, except for today.
