Last year a good friend of mind had been waitlisted at Davidson. She had realized throughout the months of February and March that this is where she wanted to go, so she was appropriately crushed. But she pulled it together to set up a campaign that was composed of persistent (but not overwhelming) forms of communication with the admissions office. She kindly asked the principal and guidance counselor to call, and she asked the vice principal, three teachers, and a few friends of hers including myself to write e-mails/letters all of which described her strong character and encouraged the college to reconsider. Following this massive campaign she had been quietly promised that she would be the first person to be taken off the waitlist from her region, and eventually was. So just remember to be persistent and you will still have a fighting chance.
