Social Life+Opposite Gender

As a straight female, I find that the hardcore feminist environment of Mount Holyoke can be rather stifling at times. I find that I must leave campus to feel normalcy. Interaction with males when off campus is awkward and seemingly unprecedented. My friends tell me they’ve felt the same way, but they get over it by taking day trips to the suburbs. Boys from Amherst and Umass take advantage of the isolation that Mount Holyoke women endure, and frequent on-campus parties for one-night stands and the like. From what I’ve seen and heard, very few women here have real relationships with Amherst and Umass males, because a) they so desperately crave any male attention, that they’ll jump into bed to satisfy their primal urges and b) Amherst and Umass women dislike Mount Holyoke and Smith women for ‘taking what’s theirs’.
Leaving the social aspect aside, Mount Holyoke is amazing.
