<p>It would be hard to post something that made it clearer that you didn’t read or even search the board before posting this bad forum etiquette, but it is an important question. </p>
<p>Anyway:</p>
<p>There is tons to do. I never found myself with free time where I did’nt have at least two or three interesting options. If you want frat parties, they are there, as are apartment/dorm parties, intramural sports games or free plays, music, and talks.</p>
<p>There is no one main social scene. The frats host the biggest parties, but probably a solid majority of the undergrads dislike them, and only about 9-10% are members of frats and sororities (which DO NOT provide housing, by the way).</p>
<p>My answer to your last question is yes. There is a big social life and a strong emphasis on academics. You will spend a lot of time doing work, but you will also have a lot of time to go out with friends. These things will sometimes overlap - academic conversations, talks and the like are not hard to find.</p>
