After our last meeting H received a phone call from our agent asking that he return the call to her.
They finally, after a few days, talked and the error was with H’s work listing the same year twice.
He dropped information off and then left a message asking her to clarify if everything has been taken care of
and that there are no more issues (with some coaxing from me).
She called today and said all had been put through and good to go and that it will take 4-or more weeks for us to
receive letters from them
Waiting …truly hope it is as she said.
H received his letter today and on the 3rd page it states that while he has filed that he will not receive
$ until he is 70 (unless he requests to change this).
Relief! Happy Days!
Now we will wait until the second week in August to see if I receive my spousal benefit.
Fingers Crossed.
Surprise, surprise: I still haven’t received my letter. I have contacted my senator.
Ok…this is funny. My actual SS benefit is $170.10 after the windfall provision is applied to my real social security benefit. $170.00 of that is now being deducted to pay for Medicare. Fine.in addition, I get a $12.78 monthly bill for my RX coverage as a “high wage earner” it’s not ME…it’s my husband!
Anyway. I worked two days a week from January until the end of April I was looking at my pays tub today…and each pay period, the school was withholding $89 in SS withholding.
My withholding was more than double my $170.10 SS payment…
I know they will recalculate in 2017…and I will be 66 that year so I’ll get all,of this sort of added back in.
I’m also patiently waiting for my Medicare BILL to come because I earned ore than $20,000 in 2015…so really, my SS payment to me…is $0.
OY!
Thumper, at least they seem to be doing everything correctly. Your situation is odd!
I did finally get my letter from SS, confirming that I’ve suspended my benefit. Thank goodness.
That took long enough, VH!!
Ya’ think??
Good luck to everyone else.
The reason I filed and suspended in the first place was so DH can claim my spousal benefit when he turns 66 (next January). He’s two years younger than I am. He’ll take that spousal benefit until he’s 70, at which point he’ll start taking his own, maxed because he’ll be 70. And when I turn 70 (in – gulp – two and a half years) I will claim my max benefit. His ability to claim the spousal benefit is not insignificant. This is what was eliminated in the recent law, but luckily for us we were able to slip in under the wire.
I received my first spousal benefit on the 14th of Sept. This is using the file and suspend that no longer exists
for new applicants. It is just great! to have money land in my bank account.
Just thought I would update here…
