<p>It is a stated goal that the university would like to offer a four year housing guarantee. I don’t know if the new dorms will allow them to do that, but it is a strategic goal of the university. The actual number of students in university housing is extremely high for an urban university: 97% of freshman and 45% of all students. Those % are actually higher than at rural Penn State-main, where only 37% live in university housing. Keep in mind that Pitt didn’t have its first true dorm until 1956.</p>
