They come from two 34s.
I do realize the adcoms superscore.
But I can’t imagine why they would place someone with a 2360 and a 35 at the same level as someone like me, with a superscored 35.
Other credentials are good, it’s just this that’s bothering me.
If I were you, what would you do?
I have this month and the next to work on this, though it would sacrifice the quality of the rest of my app, namely my essays.

Im not even near an expert, but if i were you i would work on the essays

get a life, and don’t retake a superscored 35

Not worth your time. The difference between a 35 and a 36 is negligible to the adcoms, if if there is any difference to them at all.

Hell, I retook a 35. I say go for it, if you think you can do better. Then again, that’s coming from me…

I don’t think they superscore ACT’s…

I was having exactly the same problem as you – two 34’s, superscored 35.
However I think all that shows up on your ELI account is the composite score, so they wouldn’t be able to superscore it anyways…I think, idk for sure.

nahh, i know they superscore the act. it’s no prob.

i just don’t know if it is held in the same level as a legit score. or a legit score on both tests…i.e. superscored 35 vs. legit 35 AND 2360 (that is, if 2360 = 35 by conversion)

logically, they should care as the latter displays more consistency. but what they imply differs from what’s logical: they hint at holding both on an equal plane.

anyway, i’m signed up for the dec sat/act, though i haven’t studied a bit!

I do not think you should study for yet another standardized test. Spend the time on your essays. Having said that, I should say that I heard schools do not superscore the ACT. But, hey! 34 is still good. And it’s only one part of the whole piece.

i think u should take the SAT cuz >90% of applicants take the SAT

hmm, are you sure, limabeans? i talked with an adcom when i went to the admissions office, and they said they make the best combination of scores, both from the act and sat. maybe it’s yale-specific? o.O

although a 34 isn’t too bad, there’s a world of difference between a 34 and a 35. i.e. the sat conversions are 2260 and 2360, respectively.

@pigs- i’m in the midwest. i honestly didn’t care to think about the sat till fall this year, since it really isn’t emphasized here. the act turnout on test days is six times greater than for the sat. i should have been more cautious, but i never liked the sat to begin with, and i honestly thought the act was on the same plane as the sat. suppose not. :(

no prob though, i’ll still try my best on the upcoming ones. wish me luck! and thanks for the replies!

According to Yale’s website, they take your highest ACT composite score, but DO NOT superscore the ACT. See: [Instructions for Reporting Your Scores | Application to Yale College | Freshmen | Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/application/score_reporting.html)

darn, no ACT superscore? ahh well.

I’m not sure retaking would help any…I got a 34 freshman year and decided to retake soph year. ended up getting a 32.
then again when I retook it last year I got a 34 again. so unless you’re positive it’s gonna go up and not down, I wouldn’t retake

Do not retake. 34 or 35, you do not have to be perfect. Just make sure your essays are as stellar.

It doesn’t matter whether you got a 33, 34, 35, or a 36; as of the most recent scoring poll by the ACT Co., they are all considered in the 99th% percentile.

@gibby. your link = ■■■. thanks for the info.
