I think everyone who got the automatic merit scholarship said it was in their acceptance letter. There are other scholarships that require additional application. Some department scholarships require an invite.

So if student in Cox gets award in admission letter, and, say, BBA Scholar scholarship, to qualify for any more merit, student must apply for the very selective named scholarships. Does that sound right?

Merit scholarships would have been included in the admissions letter. You are full pay at this point (unless you qualify for financial aid).

Received Discovery Scholarship this morning! Stackable with Founder’s Scholar so now 25,000 per year!!

I’m not sure about Cox. D26 was admitted to Dedman, initially acceptance letter came with 120K scholarship + University Honors Program and invite to apply to Dedman Honors with potential for another 15K/yr. Today she was offered another 40K from Dedman, without having to apply for additional scholarship yet. So I’m not sure if she applied for Dedman Honors if it’s another 15K/yr on top of 160K she already got? We probably have to email SMU cuz we’re confused about all the different scholarships as well. We do know if she applied for Presidential and got it then it does override some scholarships and not stackable.

If anyone has applied to SMU Hunt or SMU Presidential Scholar’s, what were some of y’alls stats? Just trying to make sure my application would align with the previous scholars to give me an idea if I have a chance :slight_smile:

This is so great!!! A great problem to have! My student said Hunt wipes out the first academic scholarship the put on the admissions letter, but the departmental ones stack??? I would not quote that, so you are right, questions for sure! Congrats!!! :heart: :blue_heart:

Well that would make SMU a definite no for us without any merit scholarships when he already has $27K per year at TCU and accepted at A&M Mays. Thanks for clarification.

Housing question! Accepted to SMU and Cox during EA. DS is undecided and will be waiting to hear from other schools this March but SMU is top 2. Do we need to accept and pay housing deposit now? Can we wait till March or even May? Is housing first come first serve?

S26 got RD admit today. Says Cox results come a week later.
3.7UW, 4.1 W GPA, 1490 SAT, Decent ECs & Essays. Eagle Scout, Finance Internship.

Admit Letter says:
The University provides each SMU Second Century Scholar with up to $80,000 ($20,000 annually) in scholarships during their undergraduate years at SMU.

  1. Does this mean $20K/yr (if requirements are met) or final FinancialAid package will determine a number <=$20K?

  2. Does Cox admit comes with additional chance of scholarship or is this it?
