On Southwest you can change a ticket at any time with no penalty fees. If the price of the new one is more you pay the difference, if it is less you get “credit” you can use for up to one year. If you just cancel a ticket you also get the credit usable for up to one year. So I would book now. You don’t have anything to loose unless you can’t use a credit within a year. The credit has to be used by the person whose name is on the original ticket. You can’t transfer it between family members.

I booked move in and parents weekend today- at great prices.
