No to all of the above. But if you kill someone in the heat of passion (manslaughter) and yet you are charged with 1st degree, then I would suspect you may want to defend yourself again the crime that actually occured.

And yes, younghoss’ response has me hot under the collar. Then again hypocrisy always does.

Good answer, collegeshopping, in post #40.

Now hold on just a minute, College. Your Op tells us you adimt you were speeding, and that you were sure you were going 78/79. You tell us the cop wrote an inaccurate description of your car, and that you later found out it also had what appeared to be the wrong court appearance date. You were curious and seeking comments about getting this ticket dropped based on those errors. Ok.
Post 24 you tell us you spoke to court clerk about the ticket errors, and the clerk advised you to show documentation of your car, and you did. Ok.
Your very next post was #34, where you give us an update that the ticket was dropped.
So somewhere in there, you want me, and readers of this thread to realize that you admitted to judge that you were going no more than 79? Really? Why would we suppose that? The only thing you mentioned was trying to get out of the ticket based on car description and court date errors.
Now you tell us(post 40) that in addition to the errors, you really did admit to judge that you were speeding; but he dismissed it anyway based on clerical errors. Fine. But if that’s true, then don’t you see where that puts us? In explaining my opinion on character, the first thing I mentioned about having character was admitting the speeding but only up to 79. You say later(post 40) that that was just what you did! So why be hot under the collar with me about that? You demonstrated what I posted was good character(imo), you just forgot to mention it here until after my post 38. Please don’t be mad at me because you forgot to post all the facts. In light of the facts as you now present them, it seems you may have been tempted to use the clerical errors as an excuse, but also admitted your guilt and accepted the consequences. In this case the consequences were good; the ticket was dropped. Sounds to me like you did exactly what I thought a person of good character would do, so what’s to get hot about?

So as far as passing judgment, I made no judgment on you. I gave an example of what I thought “a person” of good character would do, and what a person “not showing character on this issue” would do. You followed the course of action of the former.

What state were you in…I got a ticket in Colorado but I’m from Texas and wrote a completely random Drivers License number even after he wrote Texas for the State where my license is out of.
