Spending freeze February

ps

We’ve saved so much money since I aged out of drinking red wine last summer due to awful headaches. I don’t care for white. I’m really glad to have enjoyed all those cases of ridiculously expensive red wine the last few years, and can still taste it in my memories.

It makes meals out much less costly.

The monthly spirits bill is still a bit outrageous, but probably there will come an end in time to that delight as well.

We are drinking the best whiskey we can afford while we still enjoy spirits. That’s very deliberate spending, not mindless at all.

@conmama “gosh, how did those millions if brides manage”?

A jumpsuit isn’t a wedding dress. White stains, brides drink Chardonnay. Strapless sags, most are young and they don’t have. And last I remember, in wedding dress, you only have to hike it up to go to the bathroom.

ETA I would like the jumpsuit if it we’re black. But then there is the pesky old lady arms.

Listen guys, let’s don’t do this. I shouldn’t haven’t even responded. But, that jumpsuit does come in black if you like it. I only drink white, the straps didn’t fall off me, I tried it on. Some reviewers wore this as their wedding outfit. It would be a PITA to have to go to the bathroom, I agree. But, I felt beautiful and elegant in it for the most part and would buy it in a nanosecond if it was cheaper. I wear white in the summer all the time. I guess the risk one takes is someone spilling something on it…but that would show up with a lot of different colors except black, and I don’t wear black much.

How many times are you going to wear it? If you are trying to curb your spending, consider cost per wear. I bet with this piece it is going to be very high. Just trying to save you money… but if you are so set on buying this… just buy it. You don’t need our approval, do you?

my humble and unsolicited advice…

Trying to break that habit :frowning:

@conmama, it’s a lovely jumpsuit but my opinion is of no consequence; you felt elegant and beautiful in it so, if it goes on deeper sale (based on your desire to curb your spending), you’ll decide if it makes sense for you!

I’ve actually spent very little mindlessly this month. Of course, this comes after a 2 week family trip in January and just as we returned, the adult child of good friends of ours, who we knew very well, died which has thrown us, along with our community into deep sadness. Shopping has lost its appeal.

I think the only thing I bought outside of necessities this month was a replacement for my rather pricey under eye concealer but I don’t consider that mindless. And next up, but I just can’t get motivated quite yet, is that I’ve been invited to a 60th birthday brunch and, as a surprise, the hosts have asked guests to wear the guest of honor’s favorite colors (pink and/or orange). I don’t own clothes in either color. I keep thinking I’ll figure that out…tomorrow.

Not wanting to keep this going but @conmama If you can wear that gorgeous jumpsuit and look great in it for goodness sake get it and enjoy! I doubt that your arms are noticeable at all. The day will come when you will not even consider that jumpsuit. If I had it all over to do again I would have dressed very differently–clothes I loved and not always so practical. The kid would have lived with less legos and American Girl Doll stuff  and been just fine.

conmama already said she’s not going to buy the jumpsuit.

Between vacation and an out of state funeral, I don’t want to think about what I spent in February.
But March I s a new month, and overall I’m tracking my expenses/becoming more conscious of my expenses.

Going away for a weekend in a few weeks. Today I checked the hotel website and found out my room is now $50 less a night. Called and got the new rate - save $130 (with the taxes). YEAH!

It’s only 3/2, and I’ve already spent more than whole month of February. Today I ordered a new microwave and put down 50% for an engagement party. Next is having dead orange tree removed. Then a BIG dental bill that starts on Wednesday.

Yesterday I binged at Ross and Costco but was able to get gifts for lots of people, a larger blanket for H and me (we’ve been using one comforter and sharing one lap blanket instead of a full-size or queen blanket and needless to say it can get cold if anyone moves while sleeping. The full size blanket was on sale for $9.97 and all the gifts were quite reasonable. With postage, the items I’m shipping and everything I bought at both stores still came out to only $100 for multiple events and recipients. I’m pleased.

Since it was mindful spending of items that will be used and hopefully loved, i think it’s a win.
