Spring 2015 Transfer Thread

Congratulations!!! @mjm815

Guys once you get an answer from UT it would be nice to hear the result along with your stats. From there we can get an idea of who they are accepting.

I wonder if they’re releasing decisions for people with more hours first, then going down the list until they reach those with just 30 hours completed.

I have way over 30 and still haven’t heard anything :’(

Waiting for UT is like waiting for rain in this drought. ;))

@mjm815 did you get notified by email?

Hey y’all I just checked MyStatus, thats how I was notified. I had from a 3.47-3.5 and around 77 credits. 41 out-of-state, and 36 credits from ACC. Best of luck to everyone!!!

Maybe they’re going by amount of credits, I have about 56-59 transfer credits (from ACC) and a 3.52 (applied for COLA - Government)… so hopefully I’m next :’(

I applied to the college of nat sciences and I have a higher GPA than that. I know I have more than 30 transferrable credits but mines probably taking a while because my pre-req for the college (calc 1) is in progress

My anxiety level has now raised even more since people started to get accepted… 8-| >:)

Hi, everyone I’ve been stalked this thread for a week already and read start from the beginning. I also an UT Applicant too, but not Spring 2015, but Summer 2015, someone here said easier and someone said harder than Spring. This Fall 2014 is my first semester of college. My goal is to get into engineering school major in Eng or CS. As this college that I’m attending has no engineering program. So I need to transfer, and I already got in an engineering school but still waiting for NYU POLY decision, but I want UT. Here is my stat, (really lowww)
HS GPA: 3.0
Current college grade
Writing 1: D (3)
American Gov.: B- (3)
Music in Civi: W (dropped on time) (3)
Intro to Sociology : C+ (3)
Calculus 1: A- (4)
1 Research on Matrix Metalloprotienase
(My professor offer me (3) credit for this research in Spring 2015, anyone please advise me should I take it or not, thanks)
2 LoR: Cal1 Prof., Research Prof.
Decent Essay
At the new college for Spring 2015 semester, these are the class I registered:
Cal 2: (4)
Phys 1: (4)
Chem 1: (4)
Intro to Astro & Cosmo: (4)
Survey (Engineering Depart): (4)
Roadmap to Programming: (3)
Planning to do another research in Physics or Chemistry subject at this institution.
Planning to get another 2 LoR from professor at this institution.

My question: What major I should put for 1st, and what should be 2nd that will give me more chance? I’ll do internal transfer later once I meet requirements. My final goal: PetE or CivE and ComSci. Thanks for all previous convo and advise.

You’re taking 23 credits in one semester? That might not be wise. Those aren’t really easy classes either. I would say drop some of those, just so you can boost your gpa a little bit, especially for UT.

I didn’t do too good in Precal my first semester of college (made a D). I am now retaking it and so far I have an “A” will that hurt my admission chances?

CNS is bursting at the seams. Their external transfer admits dropped from 900 or so two years ago to 581 last fall, and the average transfer admit GPA for CNS is now 3.67. Also, you probably will need at least one calculus course and two science courses to be competetive. Here’s a link with the info. I checked into this because I was considering adding a major, and first looked at internal transfers. I quickly saw that I no hope. They are really tightening up on CNS transfers. <a href=“External Transfer Applications | College of Natural Sciences”>External Transfer Applications | College of Natural Sciences;

You didn’t check that before you applied for CNS?

I didn’t know you needed ‘Calculus’. I also applied for undergraduate studies.

I got accepted today at around noon to my first choice major. Here are my stats:

1st Choice: Geography (COLA)
2nd Choice: Mathematics (CNS)
Sophomore from Texas State University
3.52 GPA

I was rejected last year (Spring 2014) with a 3.24 GPA. I had applied to Computer Science.

I hope everyone hears good news! If you’re rejected for some reason, do not give up! It’s definitely worth to keep trying your very best!

Congratulations to @chris6564‌ and @mjm815‌ !!!
And, yes you great name @bettercallsal‌. I registered already, but still didnt pay for tuition. So, you recommend me to drop some? Which? As Cal2 Chem and Phys, I need to take it, as I’m trying for science major, and I think I might need some CS class, just make it look little bit better, but still not sure does that gonna help. Maybe, some advice for me?? But, thank you anyway.

Only two acceptances today?! :(

I’m transferring to CNS and I called up their earlier today to see if I needed to take cal 1 before I could enter. They told me that they prefer cal, but they’ll accept statistics in place of cal.

Seeing that people already getting admitted, I have high hopes that most of us should here back around next week.
