To anyone who was waitlisted for Spring 2017 and thinking about just applying for Fall 2017 instead, it is not too late to apply for the Fall. Whatever you hear about first come first serve is BS. They don’t look at a single app until the actual deadline no matter how early you submitted yours. Every app is reviewed holistically. If you do want to apply for the Fall though, you need to remove yourself from the waitlist first. Then your SUNY app needs to be redone and filed by Jan 1st. Then all supplemental materials need to be in by Feb 1st. All of this information is from the academic advisor i’ve been meeting with in person since last June, the first time I was waitlisted. I just removed myself from the waitlist because the chances are slim to none and we’d be finding out so late anyway where class pickings would be crappy too. I’ll be applying for Fall instead. Third times the charm right? Lol. Good Luck to everyone.
I am reapplying for the fall too, and it will be the third time for me also. I think the best thing from this time is I know they like my portfolio and I now know what I need to work on to get in. @evg7776, Did you have to do another application? From my understanding from what I was told through email they are going to just move my application to fall.
@adorse26 I don’t go through email with them anymore. I’m set to one academic advisor now because it tends to be a whole different story in person. I was waitlisted for Fall 2016, rolled my application over to Spring 2017 and was waitlisted agin but just removed myself from the waitlist. You have the option to roll it over but this being the third time i’m applying, i just want to fill out a completely new application. You can roll it and inquire about adding stuff to your essay, portfolio, etc but after speaking to my counselor and given his advice on what i need to change in my essay, i just rather completely redo it.

Do you know if they give you the option to roll over your app while you’re still on the waitlist? Idk how the rolling over works.
@evg7776, I redid my application the second time completely so this time around I am just rolling it over since I was told I could add new stuff. They didn’t mention anything being wrong with my essay when I asked about what I needed to do so it’s probably best for me to leave me essay alone. And the things they wanted me to fix in my portfolio should take me a few hours to fix so I am going to resubmit that, but everything else I am leaving because nothing has changed for me. But since you don’t need a portfolio and they probably focus on the essay and it probably will help you to redo it. @pizzaaa, I don’t think you can roll over while on the wait list you have to get off of it because you can’t have two applications open at once. It’s the only way I could roll mine over.

AFTER ALL MY COMPLAINING I JUST GOT OFF OF THE WAITLIST AND ACCEPTED FOR THE SPRING !!! i took myself off of the waitlist YESTERDAY but my portal never updated so they problem knew this letter was sent out to me! good luck to everyone!!!
@pizzaaa you can roll it over while on the waitlist but that just means ur forfeiting your chance on the current waitlist

@pizzawhat my application was submitted and completed July 15th because I rolled it over from my Fall 2016 application after I didn’t get off of that waitlist. The time you submit your application has nothing to do with your acceptance. I’ve been told that a hundred times from the advisors at the school. They start viewing everyones holisitcally January 1st, in no order in which they were recieved.
