If they don’t like the partying crowd, it is highly unlikely they will like a spring break Carnival Cruise. If they want a sedate trip…try NCL or RC…both cater to older crowds.

An all inclusive might be a good choice, but check the age restrictions there too.

It sounds like they are looking for an inexpensive, warm weather spring break…

It might not be so warm, but what someplace like Nashville.

Thanks BunsonBurner, Sk8rmom and the others with suggestions.

I found out yesterday form our local travel agency (as I was next door anyway and figured I’d pick up a brochure to mail to son(no car for this kid!!!):
Carnival- One passenger must be over 25 when traveling with a passenger under 21.
NCL-One passenger must be 21 or over to travel with a passenger under 21.

Disney resort, at least expensive (value) hotel on Disney premises, with airfare is more expensive than the cruise.

7 night cruise is $619-799 for outside cabin, per person. (Add air- they are limiting themselves to a port closest and least expensive to fly to, tips, excursions, if any.)

Son did all investigating/pricing for a Carnival or NCL cruise. Only two in fair price range due to flights. Carnival is out anyway due to ages. I thought I’d help him by making some other suggestions, hopefully less expensive. Older son went to UMiami, so he’s been there many times. Flights./hotels/food would be more expensive. GF would likely go camping (yes, she’s done that and son opted out) but son would never. Sleep away camp in a cabin is different then laying in a sleeping bag on the ground. NYC- we live on Long Island and not a real break for him. I suggested DC as that is a great town with lots to do. Both kids are engineering majors and work hard/study hard. Not too much play on their end. Both have worked campus jobs (son in research) and both have had paid internships between soph and jr years and already they both have internships lined up for this coming summer. Wanting a relaxing spring break is not out of line. Glad they don’t want anything to do with wild, drunk, masses of college kids in Ft L and similar destinations.

emeraldK- Sorry to hear about your daughters spring break plans. Been there, done that…twice. (older son in Sr year and younger son at the beginning of summer break after freshmen year.)

I don’t know where your kids are coming from…but maybe a cruise out of Baltimore would make a plane trip not needed. NCL has cruises out of Baltimore to Bermuda…not sure if they align with that spring break time.

There are also cruises out of some port in New Jersey.

Thanks Thumper. He checked into Baltimore (Perfect for SW flyers) but I don’t think there was a cruise leaving and returning the correct days. Spring break dates severely limit flexibility.

Royal Caribbean leaves out of NJ. Nice, easy port to deal with. I’ll check not this.
