Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Has anyone called admissions today? Just curious?

Anyone on here from CNS been accepted or hear anything??

Someone posted earlier this morning they did, and were told “any minute.”

LOL

@rach98n

Just a note, these are some of the things I have noticed, seen, and heard about with friends and acquaintances, YMMV.

First is the price. You’re paying a large amount of money for a dorm-like room. That means you have to share a room with another person, where they charge you $200-$300 more per month compared to different apartments where you would be getting much more room, space, and a kitchen. It seems they’re charging a high premium for the location as it is in a very ideal spot next to campus.

Second is the building condition. The front lobby may give an appearance of the building being modern and new, but everything else above the lobby seems like it is more than a decade old. The building itself seems to be molding, dark, and not hospitable. You can barely control the temperature in the rooms.

Third is the elevator. There are only 3 elevators that go up the dorms. 3 elevators + 20 and more floors + over 10 rooms per floor = long wait time. It’s actually much faster to take the stairs.

Fourth is internet. Never seems to be constant and fluctuates a lot.

These are some of the things right off the top of my head. Some of these things can be overlooked but keep it in mind.

I called my city’s UT admissions office this morning and was told it could be anytime in the next week and there’s been in a delay in releasing decisions

a delay?? any reason given? this is so disheartening

No reason given

@Toastyful thanks for that info. It is very helpful!

Can anyone else confirm the delay?

Just called austin admissions office and was hung up on…

Well I’m sure they must be getting tons of calls regarding the same exact thing, and calling probably isn’t going to hurry the process in any way

I’m sure but unfortunately they know this is part of their job. That doesn’t mean they should hang up on people calling.

@longhornmg yeah but they get tired of answering the same question. Like just hold on. If you were able to wait for a month or more you can wait a few more days. People calling is not helping the process.

I just spoke with admissions in Austin and they said they should have all decisions finalized by Friday end of day. Good luck everyone!

The longer the wait, the harder it is to make plans. I’m currently out of state for the summer and the sooner I know if I need to come back the better. Especially for orientation.

People are asking the same questions because they set a deadline that hasn’t been met. This isn’t the first year that this has happened and it won’t be the last. My issue is it’s after the deadline. People have plans to make. I also doubt the people answering the phones are the people making decisions

Agreed @longhornmg !!
I actually called about a question regarding current summer coursework, not just to ask them when decisions would be out.

I spoke to someone at admissions earlier in the morning and she told me everyone should have an answer by next week? I wonder if they just don’t know and makeup an answer on the spot or there’s misinformation on the thread…

@ameerica I’m willing to bet they’re making up answers.

It’s pretty much already been confirmed that they make up answers.

But yeah, there was a deadline, and it has been passed. We have every right to be upset. Period.
