“Police reports indicate a verbal exchange between students and others escalated into a physical fight which led to the stabbing,” and death of the student.

Unfortunately these tragic events happen everywhere. This statement above is from 3 months ago and describing what happen in the actual yard of the fraternity, in a very “safe” neighborhood, housing prices are 2 million and up for blocks in all directions. And the circumstances are almost identical to the sad event at USC yesterday.

So do we now label the area around Cal dangerous. btw: this is the 2nd student to be murdered at Cal within the last 24 months in this neighborhood. the other was a visiting Dartmouth student who was shot and killed after a similar street altercation.

booze, young adults bravado/stupidity, and weapons are the reasons, not the neighborhood or who owns the building.

my condolences go out to this students family and friends…it’s so senseless.
