Stacked Aid at Purdue?

I don’t know which schools will give the most merit. I just have to wait and see, and that is soooo hard to do!! U of I Chicago seems like a commuter school, so my mom crossed it off the list of schools for applications. Rolla offered about half tuition, so I was stretching it a little when I said “affordable”. It’s the “most affordable” except SIU. I’m a finalist for full tuition at SIU, but I don’t want to stay in my hometown! I’ll find out within the next week about that scholarship. No siblings. My parents lost investments in the last 5 years , so pretty good income, but no savings. They will have to budget carefully to pay about $15000 a year, which isnt nearly enough for any college. They’re accepting that they will definitely have to borrow. And I will too.

What is your GPA?

If you want to go away, there may be some other schools for merit.

Is UDayton still accepting apps? Is it too late for their merit?

is the restriction of staying kind of local firm?

If your parents can pay $15k per year, then with a full tuition scholarship, you could afford to go elsewhere.

What about that techie school in Michigan?

I don’t think I have any chance of a full tuition anywhere except SIU, and I really don’t want to go far. So, I guess we’ve talked a circle around this problem, and Im back to the fact that I just have to wait and see what the mail brings in the next few weeks! Ugh. Thanks for talking to me today! You’ve made some good points that I’ll go back and review when I have numbers to work with.

Why don’t you make a new thread with a title with something like…

Senior need full tuition merit, eng’g major, ACT 33

Then in the body of the thread include…

Your GPA
Your home state
Your Midwest preference
your eng’g discipline preferences
your career goal
the amount of your unaffordable EFC…
the amount that your parents will pay.

Ask for schools that will still accept apps and award that merit.

I know that UA Huntsville would give you full tuition merit at this point.
