Standing in line at the Apple store.

Happy to say that I got an ipad 2 for my birthday, which was yesterday. DH bought the ipad the day before my birthday, with the understanding that we could return it for the new ipad if desired. We decided to hit the apple store to take a look at the new ipad, and lo and behold, at noon on the release day they had plenty in stock. So…I got the new one. I would NEVER stand in line for something that I could get in a few days time, without the wait. What a fun surprise this was…maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket? Oh wait…husband did. “Won” 3.00

Happy Birthday, Shellz :)

Its just as well I didn’t find an iPad Saturday, I’m now undecided if I need LTE or not.
(I save myself a lot of money because I research most purchases to death)
Probably want to get one at the Apple store because I want them to install the no-glare screen protector for me, I didn’t do that great of a job putting it on my iphone.:o

Well I went & bought one. (black-64gb)The good thing is I decided to get one without 4g so I saved myself money. (too many stories about how fast it sucked down data. Don’t really want a bigger Verizon bill, and I still have unlimited data on my iPhone)

The bad thing is the Apple store didn’t have any cases (except their own which I don’t consider a case as it doesn’t cover the back) & it sounds like many online, either don’t work because of magnet polarity(for the sleep/wake function) or they aren’t shipping yet.

The amazing thing is how much better all my books are on the iPad & how fast it is even with my normally plonky wireless connection. (&even the many apps that haven’t been updated for the retina display, look pretty good. The ones that have been updated, look amazing)

I thought it was going to be more like a large iPhone, but use of tabs in Safari makes it * so * much more usable, and the touch screen is more fun! No wonder Britans house of lords & Polands parliament clamored for their use!

But I think it needs Siri (although I haven’t tried out my Dragon dictation app yet).
And I still need a case. I haven’t taken off the protective film yet in the hopes of finding a case today & having the shop put the screen protector on for me. :o

The screen is really gorgeous-so glad I waited for the new one.

A friend from abroad stayed with me last week. On her to-do list was a visit to the Apple store at the mall. So we went. She got an ipad 3. While she was getting registered, I gaped at the sight: the store was packed. Tons of fifty-somethings taking tutorials. (Apparently, the younger set doesn’t need tutorials. It just KNOWS.) Tons of young sales clerks, some of whom didn’t seem old enough to have a driver’s license. Tons of money being spent - but not one cash register in sight! You put your credit card on the clerk’s iphone and sign with your finger. Brave new world. I kept asking myself, why oh why didn’t I buy Apple stock a decade ago?

It is actually very handy to have your receipt emailed to you, much easier to keep track of.

While I have used Macs for over two decades, I don’t have stock either. However I think it may still be going up.

Memo to business types- you can’t replicate Jobs leadership style by just being a jerk.

Mine came by mail, a gift from former client. (I did send him reimbursement check, but he is as stubborn as he is generous.) anyway, I just love it. My son got the exact same model, so he will be my tutor. I didn’t learn very much at the tutorial for iPhone; they covered basics. EK, he sent the blue apple case with it, and I do like that. I may look for an outer case so it doesn’t got scratched when in my brief case.

Yes, I sure wish I had Apple stock
