Some colleges have connections with some private schools, and private school students generally get admitted in a far higher proportion, at least from what I’ve seen. </p>
<p>My mother’s friends’ children all attend a private day school not far from my public school and they generally have more students who are admitted to top schools with lower statistics, though this could obviously also be due to large number of legacy/developmental students, a significant number of minorities, and a number of athletes who can afford expensive coaches.</p>
