I’m pretty sure Stanford, or any college, would do likely letters for ED/EA? Except athletes and musicians?

would they do it for normal EA applicants? That’s the one school out of the top ones that kids from my school go to that doesn’t ever send likely letters to our normal applicants. Perhaps it does though.

@ Baelor:
Actually yes for Stanford. I know multiple people who received one.

For early non-recruits? That’s really strange; we normally send over eight kids a year and no one has ever gotten a likely letter unless they were recruited.

mercruz, can you verify this?

I thought you were a freshman student, mercruz…

I am a freshmen and I do know people who got likely letters. I obviously don’t have copy myself so I suppose I’m outs.

Regular EA applicants? That’s what I’m wondering, and I don’t disbelieve you at this point. Obviously they sound out likely letters, but I honestly didn’t think they sent them out to “normal” applicants (i.e. non-recruits). I have a friend who didn’t apply to Stanford but was planning to (recruitment) and she was convinced they didn’t send out likely letters except to some recruits. But clearly, her opinion is not definitive. However, my school has a close relationship with Stanford, and no one has gotten a likely letter…including a top-grade, top-SAT score, state soccer player, USAMO qualifier legacy when he applied EA.

This is very interesting…I’m surprised no one did. That’s really weird; thanks for letting me know.
