Stanford announces admissions statistics for class of 2025

The page at Page Not Found : Stanford University indicates 2349 were accepted last year, but only 1607 enrolled (many deferred due to COVID). However, in typical pre-COVID years, Stanford usually accepts a little under 2100, so this year’s 2349 is a notable increase from typical pre-COVID years. It’s surprising (to me) that they would increase acceptances by this degree when they are also taking many deferred kids. The combination of an increase in acceptances and hundreds of deferred kids resulted in a large increase in class size of matriculating students. A summary of class size by year is below:

Class of 2025 – 2126 students (32% increase over 2024, 25% increase over typical years)
Class of 2024 – 1607 students (6% decrease from typical years)
Class of 2023 – 1701 students
Class of 2022 – 1706 students
Class of 2021 – 1708 students
