Stanford Class of 2021 Applicant Discussion

I think many things are hyped up. I got into an Ivy undergrad and top 5 then law school with 3.0 gpa so I never get psyched out by numbers. It all depends on the Art of BS which is an important skill as explained by George Orwell.

y’all think they’ll send out likely letters next week? Past years, likely letters were mostly delivered early Feburary. Lol, I know I’m not getting one, but it’s scary to think Stanford has already made decisions on a few select applicants

What’s a likely letter? They let applicants know they’re likely admitted but not for sure??

^No, they let applicants (generally the top ~0.1%–the shoo-ins) know they’re in before the official admissions date. If you recieve one, barring any major changes in your application, you’re in.

Is stanford only school that does likely letters?

^pretty sure other elite schools like harvard and yale also do likely letters

@rsmith0208 @ticktacktoe I just googled what likely letters are (I had no idea they existed!) Around when do they come out??

@astrophysicistx Reading past threads, it seems like they come out in waves starting February to mid-March

Yale does likely letters. But aside from athletes, in RD, it can be given to someone who has a research professor pulling for them. They may have spent summers in their lab. Not necessarily the top 0,1% academically qualified, but rather someone who has a connection at the college.

Does Stanford Interview Selectively in India? Some might say, it is based on Alum availability, but my friend lived in a small city in Gujarat and was given an option to Skype or in person interview. Does it mean anything?

@intellectboy, Iooks like Stanford India interviews are selective… just like Harvard. I know someone who received an interview request this time. Did your friend from Gujarat who was offered an interview apply for RD this year?

Just had my interview… boy I got grilled initially, but eventually got into the flow. How the duration of an interview matter??

@rockies12 wait, the interview is selective? Are you sure about that?

I had my interview for Stanford, no invitation for Harvard yet.

@samc24 Yes… Stanford India interviews are selective from what I have gathered
@samc24 @chipshark which cities are you from in India?

@rockies12 Mumbai

How about for Singapore? Are those interviews selective? That place has a lot of applicants… but it is a tiny city

@samc24 RD Stanford interviews are selective? Have they already interviewed everyone from India they wanted to?

@chipshark Hi! How was your interview? How did it go? What did they ask? I haven’t got a call from Stanford yet, but my interview with Princeton is on 2nd Feb.

@rockies12 I’m form Mumbai, but I gave my interview in Delhi

@societal_hazard The interview was great… I was generally asked about my ECs and interests, why Stanford, etc. Nothing out of the box…
