Stanford Class of 2022 Discussion/Decisions

Waitlist! Don’t know whether I should accept it or not.

Congrats to all those accepted!!!

@abraham2311, you do have a chance please don’t withdraw, just hang in there. That’s what I would tell my son to do.

Stanford University

Dear ,

I am very sorry to let you know we are unable to offer you admission to Stanford. This decision in no way diminishes your application, which we know was completed with thoughtfulness and care.

We were inspired by the hopes and dreams your application represents. We were humbled by the talent, commitment, and heart you bring to your academics, extracurricular activities, work, and family responsibilities. Simply put, we wish we had more space in the freshman class.

At every step in our process, from the moment we open an application to its eventual presentation in the admission committee, we bring the highest level of consideration to our decisions. Ultimately, these difficult decisions are made with conviction and clarity, and we do not conduct an appeal process.

As a possible way to help you work through your thoughts at this time, I want to share an article I wrote several years ago for the Los Angeles Times. You may also want to visit our page of frequently asked questions for answers about our admission process.

Thank you for applying to Stanford. We enjoyed learning about you, and we know you will thrive wherever your education takes you.

With very best wishes,

honestlyyyyyy!! its all finally over!!

I know it’s the smart thing to do, but at the same time I feel guilty and greedy knowing I’ve already been accepted to amazing schools (Harvard and Yale). @MomNama

Does anyone know how we can look at our application through FERPA?

Only if you were accepted, @loosinghope.

Where is the RD results thread?? Can’t seem to find it

@crimsondream22 - go make one!

congrats to all accepted students! per Stanford news release, 2040 students accepted out of 47,450, a jaw dropping 4.3% admissions rate! My D is a sophomore and absolutely loves it there!!!

“Dear Abraham,

I am writing to let you know your application has been reviewed, and we are inviting you to accept a place on our waitlist. We were inspired by the determination, hard work, and care you invest in everything you do, and we hope to give your application further consideration.

To accept your place on our waitlist, please fill out the Stanford Waitlist Response Form on or before
May 1, 2018. If you choose not to accept our waitlist offer, use the same link to let us know you will be enrolling elsewhere.

If you join our waitlist, we will send you an update sometime after May 15. We understand you must respond to offers of admission by May 1, and you should secure a place in the freshman class at one of those colleges by that deadline.

Please know the strong potential in your application was evident, and the only additional information we need is the Waitlist Response Form. Because we are not able to meet with you individually, we encourage you to visit our page of frequently asked questions.

Stanford invites only a small percentage of students to join the waitlist, and you are part of this exceptional group. We acknowledge your strong interest in Stanford, and we appreciate the thoughtfulness of your application.

With very best wishes…”

Thanks!.. They make it sound so special. I was wondering if it was different for different students.

IM FREAKING OUT, is there anyway this could be a mistake???

Dear …,

Congratulations! You have been admitted to Stanford’s Class of 2022!

Everyone who reviewed your application was inspired by your passion, determination, accomplishments, and heart. We acknowledge and celebrate all you have worked for with the good news this letter brings.

You are, quite simply, a fantastic match with Stanford. You will bring something original and extraordinary to our campus—a place where you can learn, grow, and thrive.

At Stanford you join a diverse, joyful, and welcoming campus community with a shared determination to make our world better. Indeed, Leland and Jane Stanford founded the University “to promote the public welfare by exercising an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization.” That influence begins with an academic community committed to mastering the known and developing an intuitive capacity to imagine the unknown.

We are excited to share more about Stanford with you, and we invite you and your family to attend upcoming events. From April 7 to April 21, Stanford alumni are hosting more than 35 admitted student receptions around the world. We also hope you will join us on campus for Admit Weekend 2018,
April 26–28. To register for an event, visit admit.stanford.edu.

If you are ready to make a decision, enrollment instructions are on the admitted student website and enclosed in a folder of information we will mail next week. You may respond to our admission offer at any time on or before May 1, 2018.

To keep your place in the class, we expect you to maintain the quality of your character and to return a strong performance in the program of study reported in your application. Contact us first before making any changes to your academic schedule.

Please share this wonderful news with everyone whose love and support helped you reach this moment. We are thrilled to offer you admission. Welcome to the Stanford family.

With my congratulations and very best wishes,

Richard H. Shaw
