Well…I only have a 3580. I know it’s bad, but if I get deferred then I should have in the 3600+something range because I took the SATs again on Nov. 6th and I know I scored higher. I had a 1430 SAT, which is in the range though, so I guess you just never know.

too true - you never know

only 25 days left !!

lol tick tick tick

24 days…

I wrote the Nov SAT, and i know that Stanford says that the Nov scores come too late for consideration. But im intl and i read somewhere that intls who need fin aid are evaluated last.

So if i get a better score should i fax them and tell them my new scores, and inform them that the official report is on its way??

Yeah, it can’t hurt.

23 days…? :)

hello: I also had to take a Nov. SAT (the language I was doing for listening was only offered in Nov.). I called Stanford and asked what they suggested and they just said to send an unofficial fax report with full name, DOB, etc. Send the official score report as well though.

meao- but how do you know if they received it?

I’m at a 3640 now, a little better than before!

leely: They say there’s “no guarantees”…I guess you don’t know, but you should send it to the fax number on the site…

Instead of posting our stats, I think we should write a little blurb about ourselves, what we talked about on our apps, just to get to know each other. I’ll start.

Jellybean24: I wrote the first essay on National History Day - lots of quirky stories and my experiences interviewing famous people. My second one was on writing for an online newspaper I began, different topics I covered, and why I enjoyed it. My rommate essay was about my sense of humor, pretending to be Dave Barry, and forcing people to read my columns. My big essay was about several experiences that illustrated how I came to terms with the fact that I was a first-generation college student and I didn’t need to make myself more impressive. I also started a debate team and do yearbook (nationally recognized though that’s not on my app. because it was recent). I suppose my big things are my sense of humor and academic drive without a lot of external motivation. In college, I’m interested in history, journalism, and political science - however I can do research. If I don’t get in Stanford (likely), that means I won’t get into an Ivy, and thus I want to go to Duke.

Irock1ce: I wrote my big essay on my name and how i named myself. It really was a tale of how I was able to perserve my identity as a Chinese American and as an Immigrant and not just mix in with the mob. My first short essay, I talked about going back to my homeland China and then seeing the widespread poverty that is still prevalent there. I talked about how my family and I were about just as poor as they were. In my roomate essay, I talked about how I somehow ended up dressing as an elf and how that really gave me an amazing experience in my roomate essay. I am a first generation college student, blue-collar and an immigrant (meaning english was not my first language nor do i speak it at home). I am the president of the Key Club (170 members, largest club in school), ASB Treasurer, Youth and Government: NIC Chair, Speaker, and possibly governor’s cabinet, Asian Pacific Islander Committee: Public Relations Chair, selected to be in a group of 8 students (out of 3100) to be on the Principal’s advisory board, in a very difficult to get in music program at UC Berkeley. My main interests are politics and economics. If i dont get into Stanford (likely), then I will be looking heavily at UC Berkeley (my hometown) and other schools that I can get into.

irock –

What delegation are you in? We have a couple delegates applying for Governor’s Cabinet too.

-Ender

Ok, i wrote my first essay on Drumming, and how i made my first drumset out of pans etc. (
btw its true). the second one, i wrote about the law of conservation of energy and how it has inspired me (in the sense i’ve always wanted to break it). My third essay was about my sis and how I never realised what she meant to me, till she left home for college. My big essay … well it SUCKED, (remember children NEVER LEAVE YOUR ESSAYS FOR THE LAST HOUR BEFORE THE DEADLINE). It was about doing the basics right. My interests are robotics and AI. Loads of Olympiads (u know the geeky stuff :D), and some Music awards. If Stanford doesn’t consider me worthy of their school
I’ll most probably be heading to Gatech.

oh yeah btw 20 days left :)

My first short answer was about journalism and how nerve-wracking/satisfying it is to be editor in chief. Second short answer was about a book i read, Flatterland, has to do with theoretical physics and mathematics (Theory of Relativity, black holes, wormholes, schroedingers cat, etc.) Roomate essay was about how I am passionate about academic stuff and recreational stuff and can easily switch between them. Long essay was about the fence company I co-founded and how we initially were just in it for the money, but how it actually turned out to be a rewarding experience.

Oh, and my interests: well, academically I am interested in Economics and Business, maybe a bit of engineering/computer science too. (Symbolic Systems seems like a really cool class to me) Otherwise, I like sports a lot…I mountainbike for fun, also snowboard, I enjoy running competitively and have done very well, but I think I’m ready to take a break from it (seeing as there is no way I will make the Stanford track team). I like reading really trashy books like Tom Clancy’s stuff or Dan Brown.

Ender - EBC, Berkeley. What delegation are you from?
