Stanford Transfer Applicants 2009

true about stanford; but because stanford encourages independence, i expect more respect for alternative views than the “berkeley’ian” thought. i have been marginalized in the classroom because of my perspectives and to me, this is unacceptable and the sign of a poor teacher and school (this has been at my community college). i suppose to that degree, i fear how i will be treated by teachers at berkeley when i pipe up with thoughts in the classroom.

oh yes. one of my professors loved me until he found out i was a republican. it’s very much a shut up and regurgitate what the professor’s views are sort of environment. that is a generalization to an extent, but many of my experiences at berkeley have been that of liberal indoctrination, where opinion is ingrained into lectures as fact.

(gag) here’s to independent thought!

I’ve just sent an email to admission@stanford.edu and the auto-response says the following…

2009 TRANSFER APPLICANTS: We will notify you in April about the status of your supporting materials. If anything is missing at that time, you will have an opportunity to provide it.

So I suppose there’s no need for us to ask them after all ?

Is anyone else applying for aid? I sent in a question to the aid office a couple of days ago, and haven’t gotten an answer yet and with the deadline april 15th, I am hoping one of you might have the answer.
For the CSS Profile, I had to register as a returning student because I had to reapply for aid to my current school because of the great likelihood that I am not going to get admitted to Stanford. “Returning Students” to Stanford, though, do not have to use IDOC to send in tax return forms and such, so I am not given the IDOC option for sending in my forms. I emailed them Tuesday about how to send in my forms otherwise, to make sure that they are received. I haven’t received a reply yet and would like to have my forms postmarked by the deadline.
I was just wondering if anybody else had the same problem with needing to reapply for aid and had this question answered already.
Thanks!

i did the css profile and the FAFSA, but nothing else. I’ve been so busy with school and work, is anything else required?

If you are given the IDOC option, you gotta use that to send in copies of your tax returns and W-2, and your parent’s if that applies. i am not sure on all the documents of the top of my head, but you can find a complete list of what they need on their aid website.
And I got my answer from them this morning:
If you can’t use IDOC because you filed the Profile as a returning student, you have to fax all the forms in and put your name and note that you are a transfer applicant on every page.

I copied this from UPENN

^??? what is that, and what does it mean?

I think that is a template for us to input our info, so we all get a sense of who we are applying against. I have seen that type of stuff in other transfer threads.
Personally, I don’t want to know, haha. At this point, all the applications are in and essentially the small amount of us that will actually get accepted is already decided. I don’t need the extra torture of knowing other people are better than me.
But this is my own opinion…

A month and three days left… The wait is really painful. Oh well, at least I’m visiting the campus next Friday.

I got an email saying that my application was incomplete yesterday. Anyone else get an email?

Yep, got that. Will be sending in materials in the next few days. I should be fine :)

I haven’t gotten an email, but everything was sent out, and I am guessing (hoping) it all arrived safely.
I still wish they’d notify me about it being received…

Didn’t get the email. Hopefully it just means my app is complete.

didn’t get the email and i had already confirmed with them that my app was complete. now it’s time to hurry up and wait.

I was wondering if we got a Stanford University ID number? or is that the ID under the common app supplement?

no, i don’t think so. decisions are emailed, not posted online. in order to check if materials are received, stanford has an email format to use (it’s on the admission site).

i mean i emailed them to make an update on my transfer app and they emailed me back:

so i was wondering whether we even got this ID number?
i think i should just put the common app ID instead ?

just got an update email from them that all materials are received and will be reviewed in coming weeks; decisions will be emailed the evening of may 15th (i think it said 5pm pst).

30 days left!
